My second tip is to be sure your panty is fully stocked. Don’t get caught out when you only have time to either go to the store or to bake cookies. Some of the basics you should always have on hand are flour, sugar, butter, salt, eggs, and vanilla. Did you know that you can bake cookies only with flour, sugar and butter? Look for the recipe for Shortbread recipe in my book.
Lastly and most importantly, order The Easy Christmas Cookie Cookbook today. You’ll have access to over 60 recipes. You’d be surprised at how many new recipes you can make this year. The Easy Christmas Cookie Cookbook can be ordered most anywhere. For your convenience, the link for Amazon is: https://amzn.to/2ZIZzQk
I hope you enjoy this recipe for Pinwheel Cookies.
Carroll Pellegrinelli is a Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author. The Easy Christmas Cookie Cookbook is her second cookbook, and third book. It can be purchased via Amazon at https://amzn.to/2ZIZzQk.
Carroll’s second book and first cookbook Starter Sourdough – The Step-by-Step Guide to Sourdough Starters was number 6 on the Wall Street Journal Bestsellers List. You can purchase it from Amazon at: https://amzn.to/2OIzHAX
Travel with the Lee Girls as They Shop and Eat Their Way Through the South – New Orleans was Carroll’s first book. It is part mother- daughter travelogue including most of the tried-and-true well-known recipes served in and around the Quarter. You’ll also find lots of fun shopping tips and favorite restaurant recommendations. It’s a fun book even if you’re just traveling vicariously. You can find it on Amazon at: https://amzn.to/2DKkln4
My apologies for the late post!! I accidentally put in PM instead of AM when I set up the post.
ReplyDeleteCarroll, I'm so glad to have you! And terribly sorry about the error!
Not a problem at all! Thank you so much for doing this.
DeleteNot a problem at all! Thank you so much for doing this.
DeleteWhat a fun post, Carroll! I love prepping for the holidays and having fun with cookies and gingerbread and grandkids... and I love a stocked pantry. We could be friends!
DeleteYou can never have too many friends!
DeleteP.S. If you click each photo of the recipe, you'll be able too see them better.
ReplyDeleteHi Carroll!
ReplyDeleteOoo! A book of Christmas cookie recipes! We have our family favorites, but I'm always trying new ones, too. You never know when a new family favorite will show up.
I love your tip about freezing half the dough for later. I don't know about you, but we always seem to end up with the tail end of cookies batches just in time for Christmas Eve. Having a quick baking session with the frozen dough on the 23rd would help solve that problem!
I will admit, it wasn't easy not baking all of the dough. I wasn't used to having my cookies disappear so quickly since I only baked half a batch.
ReplyDeleteI can see how it would be difficult to have a smaller batch. But what fun later to have dough on hand!
DeleteAbsolutely, and if you've already portioned out the dough and then froze it, it's even easier.
DeleteHi Carroll,
ReplyDeleteI love your book! I agree with Jan, the tip about freezing part of the dough to save for later is a great idea. I will admit as much as I love cookies, I love eating the raw dough too (I know raw eggs can be bad for you, but I am willing to take the chance).
Do you have a favorite cookie recipe that you like eating both raw and cooked?
Lo Pelle, we're so glad you stopped by! I used to buy pasteurized eggs just to protect my kids who were always sneaking raw dough. haha However, I later learned raw flour can be a problem too! :)
DeleteI've never heard of a problem with flour, but it makes sense. After doing the Starter Sourdough book, I should realized all the yeast flying around in the air has something to do with it too.
DeleteLike you said you're not supposed to eat raw cookie dough, and I certainly do not recommend it. BUT I cannot tell a lie, I've been known to taste my cookie dough from time to time. Cookies should always be made with clean, uncracked eggs.
ReplyDeleteI admit I do enjoy cookie dough Blizzard from Dairy Queen. :)
DeleteI can't think of the name, but you can buy containers of cookie dough just for eating raw.
DeleteI like that idea, Carroll!
DeleteCarroll, I love this! Baking cookies is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. And with so many events (Lord willing), one can sample a little bit of each one. I love your tip about making the dough ahead and freezing it. Excellent idea. I assume it's best to thaw the dough in the refrigerator?
ReplyDeleteDepends on how you freeze them. If they are in “dough balls” they can be baked from frozen. It may take a bit longer. Otherwise I throw my container of dough in the fridge the night before.
DeleteBy the way, I meant to say how much I love this cover! And that's a beautiful photo of your pinwheel cookies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Missy. That was the first thing about the published book I fell in love with. Those are actually cookies from my book.
DeleteI posted last night but something happened. Blogger can be troublesome at times, which I hate especially when someone as special as Carroll Pellegrinelli is at the Cafe!
ReplyDeleteAnother delightful cookbook from a dear friend and wonderful baker! Oh my goodness, Carroll. You're amazing! I'm thrilled with your success and the beautiful books you're writing. This one will top the bestseller lists, for sure! Christmas cookies--what's not to like? I got a sneak preview and love how you've packed the book with baking tips as well as yummy recipes! I'm waiting for your TV cooking show! Mark my words, it will happen!
Congrats, dear friend, on your much deserved success!!!
Wouldn't that be exciting?! Carroll, if you get that opportunity, we'll be cheering you on!
DeleteDebby thanks so much. I'm amazed how well my book is doing and the printed book doesn't come out until Tuesday. I'm so excited!
