There was not much thought of cooking this week. I did a turkey last week and it was FIVE DAYS of food. So much fun! But this week has been busy with mums, building displays, spreading mulch, moving things to accommodate customers, ordering things to combat downy mildew (there's always something!!!) and we have Cousinpalooza coming up on Saturday where the grandkids will gather and make fairy houses, eat lots of good food, tour the pumpkin patches with Grandpa, play in a bounce house and hopefully just have an all-around fun day on the farm!
But yesterday there was this:

So that was over-the-moon exciting on the writing front, but then on the farm there is this:
FIRST COLOR IN MUMS!!!! The early mums are starting to bloom! Did you know that mums com in early (week 35 and 36 of the year) Mid-season (weeks 37-39 of the year) and late season??? (weeks 40-42 of the year)! So of the 1600 flowers that are here, about 300 of them come now, 800 in September and about 400 end of September to October... Aren't these a gorgeous way to welcome September????
AND THEN FARMER DAVE BROUGHT THESE UP, ALL HUMBLE AND NONCHALANT, AS IF THEY AREN'T THE CUTEST THINGS!!!!
The yellow and white warted one is actually dinner-plate size.... and the Orangita is saucer-sized..... we'll use these in our stacking pumpkins displays and folks will love the variety of colors and shapes we've got coming as long as we can keep the Downy Mildew (a plant disease) from robbing too many leaves. Stinkin' fungi!!!!
So that's what's happening here, it's insanely busy trying to get work done, it's all hands on deck and a great Saturday celebration coming up... oh and a farrier coming today to do donkey hooves and a monster-sized paper wasp nest in the tree shading the customer area.... Luckily we have a pest control contract.... Eek!
