Springtime at the Ranch

May is probably one of my favorite times here at the ranch. Summer's heat has yet to arrive and the rain has everything blooming. Big Daddy's hibiscus offers a nice pop of color.
While magnolia trees prove why they're a perenial favorite with their classic blooms.

Even in the pastures, wild cactus are showing off for all to see.
And then there are the cows. This group stopped in their tracks as they topped the hill to discover humans hunting for dewberries.
But they're often waiting for us when we come home, at least attempting to block our path.
However, it's always endearing when the sun starts to rise and we discover a scene like this outside our bedroom window.
The babies are still coming.
And they're always curious.
Speaking of babies... We've been watching these two gals for a couple of months now.
 Their bellies keep getting bigger...
And bigger.
Yet as we all know, those fawns are going to come in their own sweet time. But I'll be waiting with my long-lens camera when they do.

That's a glimpse of what's going on here at the ranch. What is spring bringing to your neck of the woods?

  1. lol -- that's some welcoming committee! Love your signs of spring! We've had some cool days and colder nights but leaves are budding and tulips are about to bloom. I think we're done with frost which means I can buy annuals to plant hither and yon. Yay!
