My youngest son called about 11 pm and said he'd make the chocolate cupcakes. Great! Of course, I knew the real reason he offered to make them. So he could lick the bowl. Nonetheless, half of the cupcakes were made and I was up at 7 am (yes, I allowed myself to sleep that late) making the second batch along with homemade buttercream frosting (recipe here).
Finally, things were clicking. Our oldest daughter showed up from Oklahoma with her friend. I even had time to shower. Probably a good thing since it's been so stinkin' hot. And we arrived at Mardel in plenty of time.
What a fun day. I'm pretty sure I was running on pure adrenaline, but I'm not complaining. The whole event was beyond my expectations.
Team Pink was in the house. (You have to read the book to understand the t-shirts)
Writing with shaky hands is a challenge.
I had to keep reminding myself to take a deep breath and calm down.
A friend of mine gave me the greatest gift ever.
Writer's Block Busters! How cool is that?
Pens, notebook, chocolate...all of my favorite things.
And when all was said and done...
I still had to fix dinner. (hamburger recipe here)
(No dresses were harmed in the making of said burgers)
Thanks for reliving my special day with me. It's one I won't forget any time soon.
Wow! A book signing!
ReplyDeleteI kept telling myself I wouldn't do one, since none of the bookstores in our town sell Love Inspired (except Walmart, but that isn't really a bookstore), but I actually have one planned in October.
I've recruited friends to join me, though. I'm such a chicken.
It looks like you had a fabulous time! And kudos to the son who made cupcakes for you - is he the newest Eagle Scout?
That's him, Jan. The redhead on the far left of Team Pink. And he likes to play in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYes, you'll definitely want friends with you. I had two who stayed with me the whole time, aside from my family. They definitely kept me from being nervous.
These are just the BEST pictures EVER!!!! Thank you for sharing! How great you had such a supportive team!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina. I think we all had a blast.
DeleteThis was so great!! I love it! And I want your friend. The one who gave you chocolate. :D
ReplyDeleteP.S. Gorgeous dress. :)
Wasn't that an amazing gift, Virginia? I told her she should put those together and sell them.
DeleteThanks on the dress. My clearance find the day before. :)
What an amazing day!! That must be a wonderful bookstore and staff! And you looked gorgeous. No one would have ever known you'd had a stressful night and morning.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again on the release!! And on a dream come true.
It really was beyond my expectations. Not that I really had any, but still. :) At one point I signed nonstop for over an hour.
DeleteDon't you love family, clearance dresses, a great bookstore, when they all converge in your honor?
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous.
LOL! Yes, except maybe the part about them converging in my honor. That's a little out of my comfort zone. But it was fun nonetheless. :)
DeleteHow exciting!!!!! Glad that it was a success. Love the pink t-shirts and that you had guys on your team man enough to wear them!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kav! Did you recognize the shirts?
DeleteLove this, Mindy! So glad your signing went well. I can't wait to read this.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary!
DeleteLooks like such a fun launch party and signing! Writer's Block Busters---PERFECT! May I borrow that gift idea? Thanks for sharing your photos and recipes. We have lived near Ouray and think it is very special....so I know I'll love your book! Congratulations and enjoy all the FUN!
ReplyDeleteOf course you can borrow it, Sherida! And thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great book launch party, Mindy! Love the pink : ) Signings are such a hoot when your surrounded by friends. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have had it any other way, Audra! :)
