SPRING IS THINKING ABOUT US!!!!!

I know this because the robins that have been grouped and hiding en masse in the woods are now doing curtsies and bobs and weaves while the boy robins are beating their chests like flighted Tarzans...

And the cardinal males are chasing each other from tree to tree in a show of true manliness!!!

While the women are gathering stuff for the house.

NOTHING REALLY CHANGES, PEOPLE!!!! ;)

But we have more sun in the evening so things are beginning to ramp up here on the farm.

The guys are pulling wood that will be split for firewood for next winter for us and customers. Mostly customers because this is PRETTY WOOD.... I burn all the less than stellar looking wood because that way we've got the best of both worlds...

And Dave has cut log rounds for customers.... People love these log rounds, they use them for so many things....

And I want to be outside working but I'm doing tax records stuff right now and then next week I'm gone, so I won't be getting anything accomplished outside for two weeks...which is all right, but as winter winds down, we're all just so anxious to clean things up... rake.... trim.... pick up the plethora of things winter winds have set a-sail!!!!

And this is what's going on at Grammy Preschool:

Lena learning to measure flour evenly with a handy-dandy knife for leveling:

Here we're doing a change of seasons project, making spring flowers for Mom and Dad:

Do you see that button jar? An old glass Planters Peanuts jar....

And the top isn't broken!!! (yet)

They'll be so cute when they're done!

And we celebrated National Waffle Day last week with this:

We did those delicious Saveur Belgian Waffles RECIPE HERE that come out perfect every time. And I double the recipe and freeze them, individually wrapped so folks can have waffles anytime. Really good ones!

I've had a busy week... and more to come. And I'm always happy when taxes are off my plate and sent in. It's such a hassle and that is like the one thing I procrastinate on and I  do it for a reason.... because then everything is fresh in my mind as I go through the lists.... but gosh, I hate giving up a few days of writing and cleaning and whatever to do it!

(I do like spring cleaning. It's like therapy up here.)

Pantry cupboards have been cleaned and organized!!!!

SUNBEAM AT THE BOTTOM!!! :)

Like OH MY STARS. I can actually see things again.

Do you get that giddy feeling when things are organized??? Or am I total nerd? Because I'm not Mrs. Clean by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love it when stuff is in place...

Sigh.

And it feels so right to have that happen in spring!

  1. I wrote about cleaning and organizing my freezer a few weeks ago, but then I got sucked into the taxes thing and haven't gotten to my pantry yet. The taxes took me two weeks, mostly because I noticed something I had missed last year...so filed an amended return...and dealing with new income streams from this year...

Taxes are a headache and a half. I'd pay someone else to do it, but worrying if they understand all of our family's quirks would give me a bigger headache that I'm paying for. *sigh*

I'm just happy they're done now!

But the rest of this post! Spring is springing all over the place! And seeing Lena and Finn at Grammy Preschool is so precious. :-)

Our red-winged blackbirds came back a couple days ago, so we have their shrill mating competitions going on. Once they've settled down and the ladies are sitting on their nests, then we'll hear their beautiful calls! Looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, snow tonight and tomorrow...but a spring storm. It won't last long.

    1. That's the good thing about spring storms. They are short-lived!!!

I'm back to taxes this afternoon.... like you there are so many quirky things and I lay out the framework... and then my oldest son plugs it all into Turbo Tax. I used to do the whole thing myself, but he kindly offered, Jan...

And I wasn't about to say no, LOL! Payment in cookies! :)

  2. Doesn't it feel good to reclaim the chaos that can be one's pantry, Ruthy? And I love Grammy's preschool. I know those two just have oodles of fun. But why did you have to go and mention waffles? French toast yesterday, waffles today... Stop stirring up my carb cravings, woman.

    1. Those waffles are like food of the heavens.... and now there are 9 of them in my freezer. They're absolutely amazingly delicious, Mindy. I've used so many recipes but none came out as good as this one. I am in love.

      But carbs.

      Yep.

      I hear ya', sister!!!

  3. Should I admit I was hoping to discover a cake mix in your pantry so I could tease you for making fun of me for using mixes??!! hahahaha But alas, you don't have any! I'm so impressed. (But I do notice you may have a little addiction to chocolate in its many forms.)

    :)

Enjoy a little spring!! We'll be heading into summer before we know it. The blooms are gone on some trees, and they're in full leaves. The cherry trees have been stunning this year. Same with the redbuds.

    1. Missy, I have 18 cake mixes in my cupboard... and a dozen brownie mixes! I love mix cakes, I love the tenderness of them and I use them all the time. I do like making homemade things, too, but those mixes are my go-to! I love Betty Crocker and Duncan Hines cake mixes and for brownie mixes, I love the Pillsbury basic because it's always perfect and I can dress it up... or go plain... it's a no fail dessert and they use Pillsbury brownie mixes in the big bakery I used to work in. :)

    2. Those are in a different cupboard.... It hasn't been spring cleaned yet, LOL!

    3. I'm relieved to hear you're human!! :) I, too, love cake mixes. And I think brownie mixes are better than what I've made from scratch.
