Tulips are blooming, not in a botanical garden, but outside ManO's office.
My favorite flower lady is back at Western Wake Farmer's Market.
My daughter spruced up one of her dad's childhood wagons as a planter. Like Mother like daughter.
The Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, a staple of my childhood, is in full bloom this week. I love looking at the pictures on line and will get back in person one day.
Um, back to flowers, I pulled out my grandmother's china, the perfect plates for Spring. What's crazy is a friend of mine, Amy, has similar plates she displayed for Easter on Facebook. I put mine up (Amy's is left, mine is right) and other folks started showing off their floral china. So many similarities. Apparently it was a pretty popular pattern back in the day.
So, how has spring sprung in your neighborhood, in your house, on your table, with your hair?
Those are beautiful flowers outside Man-O's office!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have swaths of flowers yet...actually, I have to face this fact, living in a semi-arid climate means we never really have swaths of flowers.
But the crab apple trees are beginning to bloom, and we have buds on the cherry tree we planted last year.
But I checked the raspberries, and it looks like I'll have to re-plant. I wondered, since my son and I had a horrible episode of miscommunication regarding weedkiller use last spring. But it looks like one plant might survive!
I do miss the tulip festival in Holland, Michigan. When you live in West Michigan, it's THE place to go in the spring. Not as big as the cherry blossom festival, but close!
The biggest news around here today is that it looks like we might get some rain tonight! Pray that we get enough to put out the wild fire in Wind Cave National Park!
Praying for good rain for you. Our rain is just putting out pollen.
DeleteOur first white iris bloomed today. I want to go to both our Holland and the one in Europe. Love tulips but I just can't grow them.
And semi arid areas have their own beauty, like baby bison!
Our crabapples bloomed so quickly this year I hardly got to enjoy them! Seems like they lasted about two days. But they were gorgeous!
DeleteOurs bloomed during a too soon warm spell and then were gone.
DeleteI've been too busy enjoying the warmer weather. I need to get some hint of spring going into the house, and it may or may not be floral. Flowers make me sneeze...:)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great not to have to bundle up? I just love it. We aren't doing anything outside this year because of the remodel but I just realized we need to move some plants so they don't get run over!
DeleteBeautiful!! What is your china pattern called, Julie? My grandmother's is similar. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's called Louisa and was made in Czechoslovakia. My friend's inherited china was made in Germany and named something else.
DeleteI think mine is German, too. It's The Dresden-- Rosenthal Continental. It's a little busier than yours with gold on it. Here's a link to a set with some history included. :) http://www.rubylane.com/item/200043-RL0001637/Set-10-Rosenthal-x22The-Dresdenx22-Pattern
DeleteWow. You have sprung into spring with a vengeance. Can't say I blame you after the terrible winter we all endured. I love you pink streak and your chic hair cut. Very bold of you. What a clever idea for the radio flyer. It's just perfect. I wish I could find the one we had when Amber was little. And cherry blossoms are my favorite. It's such a treat to be able to see them in D.C. Wishing you a HAPPY SPRING.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Happy Spring. Yep, I kinda dived in in a big way!
Deletehaha! Pink hair! My daughter keeps begging me to get a blue streak.
ReplyDeleteHair chalk is the best invention ever. Not permanent, washes out easily. Your daughter's request was more of what I was expecting from the four year old. Not Grandmas don't have pink hair! :-)
DeleteI'm just happy that we're having a spring here in Texas. Often times, we head straight into summer. But I'm lovin' these temps in the 70's and low 80's.
ReplyDeleteThose tulips are gorgeous, Julie. Everything is in bloom here and I'm so happy to have my fresh herbs again!
Are the bluebonnets there or just in the Hill Country? Texas is so big but I think of them as everywhere. Total envy.
DeleteThey're everywhere. State flower, you know. Love them, but they're so short lived. Probably what makes us appreciate them so. :)
