More Fun with the Keurig!

Missy, here. Schools were out part of yesterday and again today for weather, and it's thrown me off a day this week. I almost forgot to post!

Soooo…I wanted to share something quick and simple. Something I discovered a couple of weeks ago at the grocery store.

Oatmeal K-Cups!

The pack includes the oatmeal, the K-cup with the flavorings, and a bag of mix-ins like dried cranberries and nuts. I bought the Brown Sugar Pecan. They also make Apple Cinnamon Almond.

First, put the oats in the mug.

Then add the pack of fruits and nuts.

Then put the K-cup in the machine and use it on the 6 oz. setting. (Please note the company says these are not compatible with the newer Keurig 2.0.)

Okay, so I forgot to take a photo of the finished product! I was busy eating my breakfast, which was delicious! (I think next time I'll add a little extra brown sugar.)

If you have a Keurig and can find these at your grocery store, you may want to try it for a quick, filling breakfast!

  1. Oh, that is cool! I have a friend who keeps trying to give me a Keurig and I keep telling her that Mr. Latte would be jealous an then he would stop speaking to me and I'd be SAD.

I'll have to ask her if she does this...

    1. Virginia, your mixers have learned to co-exist. Maybe your coffee makers could, too. :)

    2. Virginia, my Keurig and Mr. Latte are counter buddies. It was actually love at first sight, totally romance writer friendly! I will admit I was worried, but Mr. K knows he's first and foremost so he's adjusted....

Missy, fun idea! Can I confess to having a back up new Keurig upstairs so when my current one dies, I don't have to use the new system? We make our own K-cups and the plastic pods don't fit the new dispenser.... AAACCHHH! This is my frugality talking!

Thank you for this fun tip, my friend!

    4. Missy, I actually gave Thor to our old babysitter because he was huge. He never fit under the counter, and the other side of the kitchen doesn't have an outlet. So, I was lugging his giant carcass back and forth across the kitchen, perching him on the side of the sink, and then using him. :( She loves him, though and he's right at home in her house!
Edna is queen of the kitchen again an came out of semi-retirement to fill the gap made by Thor's decamping for new horizons.
I'll probably order another one someday and be MORE CAREFUL about the height of the machine. Or get my husband it install an outlet on that side of the kitchen. (It's a really old house. :)

  2. I'm not a coffee drinker so I don't have one of those thingamigs but I love oatmeal. Have it every morning. I make it the old-fashioned way -- on the stove top with raisins. Yum. And in the summer I throw in blueberries or strawberries. Drool. I want warmer weather and growing things in my garden. Hasn't this winter bee strange? We keep breaking temp records up here. Brrrrr.

    1. Jackie, I never would have thought of fruit cocktail! What a great idea because you can keep it on hand all the time. :)

Actually I use Splenda Brown. :)

  4. What will they think of next? A coffee maker that makes oatmeal. Next up - scrambled eggs and bacon???

Two of my sons went in together and bought a Keurig, but since I don't drink coffee, I have no idea how to use it. When we have guests over, I tell them, "There's the machine and the cups. You're on your own!"

But one of my sons bought some hot cider K cups. I haven't tried them yet....

I stick to my teakettle and varieties of tea. :)

    1. Jan, we have K-cups with tea in them for my husband--although he usually just uses a teabag and the microwave. :) I bet you'll love the cider!

    2. Automatic bacon maker.

I need that. You could set a timer and the smell of fresh bacon would wake you up in the morning.
