Sonic Drive-In Sweet Potato Tots!! Oh, my goodness. They're amazing. They're chocked full of hunks of sweet potato and aren't greasy at all. They were wonderful with a dash of salt.
And if you need something good to go with them, give the Caramel Java Chiller a try. :) Yes, that's what I ate together! An afternoon snack for a very hungry woman on the way to a tennis match. Not to play! Just to watch. :)
What's your favorite place to stop when you want a yummy snack while on the run?
I had NO IDEA this existed. Listen you need to join the Cruiser's Club on the Sonic Web site. When they audition new products they send you coupons for a freebee. Right now I have a coupon for FREE 14 oz cream slush. And I now know exactly what I am getting to go with it.
ReplyDeleteI want Sonic.
DeleteAnd Chick fil A.
Dagnabbit.
So funny Missy, I had Sweet Potato Tots last night. Not from Sonic - these are a cook at home version that my daughter loves. Last night I decided to indulge too. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday.
TEEEENA! Why didn't I know about this? I'll go join right now! :)
ReplyDeleteMary, I've tried some frozen sweet potato waffle fries that I love. But I also bought some sweet potato tots that I haven't made yet. I'm glad you reminded me of them!
BTW, I've found one brand to be better than a couple of the others, so be sure to try them all once. Alexia is the brand I really like. :)
Yes! Alexia was the brand I had last night. I just couldn't think of it when I was typing this morning and I'd already thrown out the bag.
DeleteMary, i couldn't think of it either. :) I had to go look it up.
DeleteWhat's a Sonic-Drive-in? Interesting how we can share a border the width of our countries but have totally different restaurants and food. It's all North America, right? LOL. Have to admit I love sweet potato fries but I never eat at fast food places. I think that's handier to do when you have a car. Since I don't drive and my bus ride is long enough as it is I have no desire to take a detour to a fast-food place. Fast food for me is scrambled eggs and toast when I'm too pooped to cook dinner. :-)
ReplyDeleteKav, I love your life. Seriously, I'm going to make you a heroine whose genteel existence is turned upside down by something....
DeleteAnd you're thrust into Soccer Mom mode.... Or big city mode.... And all of a sudden you realize that the quiet existence is better for all and it's your job to convince the hero.
Maybe I have to bring him to your turf, right? Country mouse, city mouse????
I'm seeing this in my head, and it's YOU as the heroine.
Of course I will deny it to my death.
LOL -- as long as I have a dog...or two and the hero loves animals almost as much as me, I'm in! :-)
DeleteKav, that is amazing that our restaurants are so different. Sonic is a place where you can drive your car up to a menu/speaker, order and have curbside service. It's especially fun in the summer.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would take a bus out of my way to get fast food either. Unless, of course, I was having a craving for French fries--one of my weaknesses in life. :)
I'm going to have to try these! I love sweet potato fries, and I have one son who loves the Sonic chili dogs...maybe I can bribe him to stop off a get some on his way home from his morning class....
ReplyDeleteJan, sounds like a great lunch plan! :)
ReplyDeleteI make sweet potato fries at home, but they don't come out crispy. So then I found this recipe for seasoned fries....
ReplyDeleteYou cook them for 2-3 minutes and drain them. Then coat them with seasoned flour. (Sweet seasoned or savory seasoned or combo)
Then refry to make the outside crunchy and the inside is just nice sweet potato goodness.
AMAZING.
Or you can make a root veggie bake. A little bit of olive oil in a pan and add diced up sweet potato, parsnip, carrot, potato etc. Drizzle with salt and pepper and some herbs...um rosemary is one and oregano I think. Then bake them at about 350 for a while (until Simba says their done if you live in my house) and they actually come out crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Yum. Yum. Yum.
DeleteOF COURSE RUTHY MAKES HOMEMADE ONES!! I should have known. I'm such a wuss.
ReplyDelete;)
Okay, Ruthy, more details, please!
ReplyDeleteAnd we wimped out on the Sonic run for lunch. My son made some excuse about a paper being due today... What's up with that? He'd rather get a good grade on a paper than get sweet potato tots for his dear mother?
Who raised that boy?
Oh, wait, my dear husband is taking me out tonight...I have another chance...
Not just curb side service at Sonic but on roller skates!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the diet Cherry Limeade at sonic. And 2-4 is Happy Hour. All drinks 1/2 price. The giant Route 66 is only a buck.
I love the half-price time of day! I love to go get a huge Diet Dr. Pepper. They and Chick fil-a are two of the few places that carry my fav!
DeleteCan you tell I've had a harried day? I'm spending way too much time in the corner booth at the cafe. Hoping no one spots me and drags me to the next meeting. ROLLER SKATES???? Seriously??? Now why don't we have that up here? And I've never heard of cherry limeade...sigh, I'm so deprived!
ReplyDeleteKav, I'm herein the middle of New York City and we don't have half these places they speak of. So I'll grab the corner booth next to you and maybe someone will take pity on us and deliver some Chick-fil-a. The only time I ever had that was on a road trip through NC. Sure was delicious.
DeleteTina, how can I get my husband to come home from work before 4:00 on the Friday before he takes a week's vacation?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the water heater can "break"?
Naw, he'd just tell me to call a plumber and it would ruin his day...
And he doesn't like Sonic, so the truth about Sonic happy hour won't work...
Sigh.
I saw these on tv the other night! they sound great! =)
ReplyDeleteI love the drinks and chicken sandwiches from Sonic.
I love their chicken club! And they also have a pretty decent grilled chicken salad.
