When I'm writing like this, unless there's something that HAS to be done, it doesn't get done. The family still demands to be fed, though, so I usually go for something quick.
Things I can throw on the grill, like steak (recipe here)
Wings (recipe here)
Or pizzas on pita bread (recipe here).
Of course, there are other things that HAVE to be done. Like moving our oldest son into his college apartment. His FIRST apartment.
Note the necessities. A bed, pull up bar and a white board.
Throw in another possible UTI for my mother and a pinched nerve in my shoulder and it's just been one of those weeks. No sympathies, though. It's all a part of life and I'm merely stating facts. Life ebbs, life flows and on and on we go. ;)
But about those revisions. This book is kicking my butt. All I can say is that there must be something in this story that that blasted old enemy just doesn't want out there, because he's doing his best to thwart me at every turn. Too bad for him, though, that I've got God on my side. And if HE wants this story told, by golly, it's gonna be told.
Can I get an amen?
Okay, that's enough dilly-dallying for one day. Time to get back to work.
Have a great one!
Amen! Praying your revisions go smoothly from here on out and that life settles to an even keel. Just finished A Father's Second Chance. Such a good read. Loved it!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad you liked it, Kav! If only this next story were so easy to write. It'll get there, though.
DeleteYou have an amen from me!
ReplyDeleteMy desk looks very much like yours. The deadline for Mattie's Choice, the second book in the Journey to Pleasant Prairie trilogy, is due in less than two weeks.
13 days. (No I'm not stressed. Not yet.) (And yes, I'm fibbing.)
My September release, A Home for His Family, gave me fits with revisions - but I'm so glad my editor didn't let up. I think that book is my favorite so far, and it was because she wouldn't let me slide by with lazy writing! :)
Tell your family to enjoy the quick meals! We've had cold meat sandwiches for supper three times in the last week...
We have twinsie titles. LOL. My is A Home for HER Family. I love LI historicals. They're a perfect length for reading and they still fit in my purse. (I don't use a Kindle much.) I'll be sure to grab it when it comes to WW!
DeleteJan, for as tough as those revisions can be, we're always glad for them in the end. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "Those revisions made my book worse than it was before." Doesn't make them any less painful, though.
DeleteOkay, so that desk photo looks NEAT to me!! LOL That's all I could focus on while reading. :) You would be appalled at my desk (which is actually our dining room table). Maybe that's why I usually work on the couch. :)
ReplyDeleteMissy, what's really bad is when there's a bill that somehow doesn't get paid. And then I find it buried on my desk. Oops.
DeleteOh, the pinched nerve sounds awful! I had a crick in my neck for two days and I was so miserable. It wasn't even that bad. I just remember every time I turned my head and it was annoying.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've had those, too, Virginia. Not fun. I'm able to move my head all right. It's just that dull ache that wants to suck the life out of me that's so annoying. It's a little better today, but I'm ready for it to be gone.
DeleteFeeling for you, Mindy. I had to give up sewing because of a pinched nerve I used to get whenever I bent over to work on something. I still get it with writing, but I can deal with it a bit better by changing posture.
ReplyDeleteHoping things calm down! Good luck with the revisions. RahRah!
I know what you mean, Mary Cate. If I straighten my posture it feels better. However, if I keep my hand on the mouse too long, it becomes a problem. It'll all work out, though. Thanks for being my cheerleader. :)
DeleteSorry I missed yesterday!!!! I remember my first major revision... I panicked and thought they were going to boot me out the door.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't.
The next book was a complete re-write... I mean complete re-write.
They still didn't kick me out! :)
And then it got better so that I knew more of what LI wanted, and they knew I'd deliver the goods quickly when they needed changes.
That was a huge thing, like crossing the pond, huge!
And afterwards I could see it all, but it's hard when you're in the crux of it!
We've had the panini maker out regularly.
We've thrown stuff on the grill. We stir-fry summer squash with cheddar cheese. And grill summer squash and zucchini.
And my ever-present cans of tuna!!!! The good stuff! :)
I agree with the changing posture, etc. It all helps, and to change things up regularly. Muscles don't like being in the same spot all the time.
Love the panini idea, Ruthy. Must put a panini press on my Christmas list. And I bet my boys would love it.
