Chicken Wings!!!!!

I have come to love chicken wings.

It's ridiculous, really, because this is what I SHOULD BE EATING!!!!!

But today, in honor of all those high schoolers doing double sessions for football season, and the upcoming NFL season, I bring you CHICKEN WINGS.

:)

These are easy. And they're $8.99 for  a dozen at our local pizza places, so this is a Must Make at Home dish!

I bought the ginormous bag of frozen, separated wings at Sam's Club. Here's the basic idea:

Remove a dozen wing pieces from bag.

Rinse under warm water just to get rid of ice glaze (it makes the oil spit too much)

Pat dry with paper towels, or your good hand towel and then use it to dry dishes.

(I'm kidding, for pity's sake. Of course you don't want Salmonella dishes! Silly you!)

Coat each piece with flour, seasoned with salt and pepper. (Like Southern Fried Chicken!!!!)

Fry at 375 degrees until dark golden brown and C-R-I-S-P-Y.  I used the deep fryer, but you can pan fry it like you do for fried chicken or pan fish... Put about 1 inches of oil in a deep frying pan, heat and put wings in carefully.... and turn as needed.

Drain on paper towels.

Toss with favorite sauce. We use a pan with a cover to "coat" them....

Throw the wings into the 2 or 3 quart sauce pan, add the sauce, cover and shake! Then serve!!!

We love "Country Sweet" sauce, it's got tang and sweetness, a perfect combo!!!!

Serve and enjoy!

Busy times here on the farm, and here at the desk! I'm loving how blessed we are to have everyone healthy and happy... for the moment!

Life is full of plastic pools and boats, speed racing on garage sale bikes in my driveway and a new chicken watering system that appears to be working!

Note the fancy CONCRETE block supports, LOL!

SWEET!!!! Happy hens lay happy eggs.

And bread for the farm stand:

And a cute kid!!!

And country kids, lovin' on the pick up truck:

You know those country songs about rockin' it out in the bed of a pick up truck? Dance parties?
Yup, we've got it workin'!

  1. Hi Ruthy, I just had some of your birthday cake over at Seekerville but those wings do look tasty. My husband usually makes the wings.

And yes, Happiest of Birthdays to you special lady!

In our family we each have things we are good at and like to make and the wings are on his list. After 41 years of cooking, I'm glad to share the kitchen, it's worth cleaning up after him to have the break. He's a decent cook too.

I love all the kid pics, Finn on his "ride" and the pickup one too. I'm also smiling at all the "vehicles" parked on the right side. It brings back fond memories of my kids, the neighborhood and the ones I babysat.

    Good Memories!

I hope you make a few good memories yourself today and many wishes for a year full of blessings beyond all your dreams, God's good like that, blessing His people!

It's so crazy fun, we go from first year riders, Fisher Price style right up through Big Wheels and two wheelers with no training wheels!!! It's like time-lapse photography!!!

I love that your hubby does the wings! GO HIM!!!! I'm bringing him over here to show Ol' Dave a thing or two!!!

    1. Sandra, we do some that way, but my stupid stomach doesn't let me do spicy or Mexican... so I'm careful and BORING. But the country sweet is really good with just enough bite to make me happy!!!

  4. So the rumours are based on fact -- it is your birthday. Happy Birthday, Ruthy. Do those chickens know what you're up to when you take out the fryer?!

  5. Those wings look delicious! I'll be over, so make a batch for me, okay? I like the sweet sauces, too. The spicy ones are just too hot!

And Happy Birthday!!!! Sandra said it best - you are God's gift to us :)

I love the glimpses into country living. I lived in the country for my first five years, and I've been longing to get back ever since. Someday...

  6. Ruthy, ever since Sandra said you are God's gift to us on Seekerville and here at Yankee Belle, I've had the country song going through my head, haha:

God gave me you for the ups and downs,
God gave me you for the days of doubt...
    God gave me you

A lot of us feel that way about all the encouragement you give Ruthy!

I'm all over these wings. I've always wanted to try them at home. I love Frank's Red Hot Sauce. That'll be the way I'll do it!! Thanks, Ruthy.

  8. Lovin' me some chicken wings, Ruthy. Almost always have them in the freezer, ready to season and throw on the grill or in the fryer. Season with your favorite sauce and life is good.

Sounds like things are busy, busy, busy and fun, fun, fun on the farm. Country boys and girls gettin' down on the farm. :D

BTW, I REALLY want some of that bread.
