Random and Relaxing

Random and Relaxing
Missy Tippens

First off, a random discovery. The fall decorations and candles are in! I found this at Cracker Barrel and we had a sniffing fest. My favorite?? The Apple Pumpkin candles from Yankee Candle Company. Oh my goodness. Good enough to eat!

More random… I shared my friend's garden in the spring. So I thought I'd show a couple of shots of Mace's back yard in the late summer.

And now in the relaxing category…

This past weekend, my son's girlfriend invited us to come to stay at her grandparents' mountain home in North Georgia. We went up Sunday afternoon and stayed one night. We had a wonderful, relaxing time. I thought I'd share some photos of the lovely mountain view from the deck of the home.

My oldest and his girlfriend

Above is the view from our bedroom. A gorgeous evening shot of the mountains. Below is the same view from the deck.

And here's the view the next day. We had beautiful weather. Look at that glorious sky!

And since it's the Cafe and we need food… Here's the salted caramel cheesecake I had for dessert! It was AMAZING. Look how thick that graham cracker crust is! That's often my favorite part.
Yes, I'd already eaten a bite when I remember to photograph it!
And last but not least, a moment for you to get away and relax. We visited here…

This is Warwoman Dell, part of the Chattahoochee National Forest. A gorgeous green fairy world.

The bridge goes over this trickling creek. Totally peaceful and relaxing. Enjoy!

  1. Lovely. I had to find a recipe Salted Caramel Cheesecake Bars

No disparaging the salted caramel, Virginia.

    1. Oh, YUM. I just pinned that recipe. It looks delicious. And how could anyone not like their caramel salted just a bit??! :)

    2. Me -- on principle of mixing salty and sweet. I've never tried salted caramel though.

Love the sound of the water...so peaceful and soothing. And your pictures are amazing. Makes me crave some fresh country air. Instead I'll get stagnant humid city air. Yuck! Thanks for the virtual retreat.

    3. LOL, Kav. You should definitely try this.

I hope you get a chance to get out of the city soon! It always does me good to get out in nature. I sat on the deck, worked on my proposal, and watching hummingbirds feel. It was perfect.

  2. Salted caramel anything gets my vote!!! Oh, Missy, I would move to this mountain vista in a heartbeat. Grow old there, (HUSH TINA) write sweet stories and gaze upon God's mountains as I prayed.

But for NOW me and the chickens and dogs and kitties and kids and dust and dirt will maintain here in upstate New York, where it's tomato pickin' time and pumpkin' haulin' marks the days!

    1. Ruthy, I can see us side by side in rocking chairs when we're about 90. We'll enjoy the mountains then--if I can keep you sitting still for a moment. :)

    2. I'd sit and rock with you, Missy! And I'd gab your ear off and you'd pull out your hearing aid and pretend to hear me. Smile and nod. Repeat. :)

  3. I'm betting she didn't cut those squares with the caramel on top because they're not smeared at all.... Even with a hot, sharp knife, the caramel will smear. When I do squares like this for parties, I apply the topping after cutting to get this kind of appearance. Now maybe she's WAY BETTER than me, and I wouldn't doubt it for a minute, but if you're looking for the perfect view on presentation, it's often better to wait and apply the frosting or topping to individual squares after cutting.

I just found a suggestion for 25 lb. test fishing line.... I'm getting some (if Dave doesn't have some around) and checking it on my next cheesecake or brownie experience.

And Angelina Morales, my newest heroine, is ABOUT TO USE IT IN WASHINGTON STATE, LOL! Thanks for the inspiration, Missy!

    1. You know, Ruthy, I didn't think about how on earth those little squares were cut! LOL What a lot of work when you just want to stuff about three of them in your mouth at once. :)

  4. I hear the mountains calling me Missy! I haven't squeezed in a trip to the Skyline drive and Shenandoah Valley in a couple of years but I'm putting it on my fall bucket list. The four hour drive will be worth it. Thanks for sharing your trip!

    1. Mary, you mean you can't relax in 43 seconds??? What, do you need a whole vacation or something?

;) You know, maybe there's a way to put the video on loop so it'll play over and over, and you'll think you're working in the mountains of Georgia with me by your side. :)

    2. We need medication to relax Mary.... Preferably an IV drip, darlings.

    1. Actually, I've got a soundtrack of water I sometimes work to. It's got the ocean as well as bubbling brook, etc. :)
