Missy, here. Time for a coffee/tea/chocolate break! Today, instead of pulling up a chair, why don't we go out for a walk? For those of you still in the cold, you can come out and enjoy some of our gorgeous spring (summer-like!) weather in Georgia.
In fact, I'll share a couple of photos my daughter took the other day in our yard. Pretend we're walking through my neighborhood admiring the azaleas...chatting...
What's your favorite TV show right now? If you don't like to watch TV, then what's your favorite pastime?
hmm I don't watch much tv unless it's a dvd and for those I usually go for the older tv shows I never cared for when new - like Golden Girls and Frasier and I added Mike and Molly and Good Times from 'back when'..also some of the old Dragnet stuff with Harry Morgan and Jack Webb. My favorite pastimes are reading, eating!, quilting..and recently started knitting though I'm still happily content doing washcloths and dishcloths and probably wont' venture any further unless someone can convince me to try socks..

I'm on a fantasy bend as far as tv shows go. Love Once Upon a Time. So cleverly done, though I think I'd get frustrated if it goes on forever because Regina has to get payback at some time -- like any bad witch in a fairy tale. LOL.
ReplyDeleteAnd Merlin -- this season just finished up here. It's from England so I think we might be a season behind.
Oh -- and a Canadian turn-of-the-century detective show, Murdoch Mysteries, will be starting it's new season soon. I have a thing for a certain brown-eyed detective. Sigh.
As to pastimes...you have to ask? Read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And garden. I'm itching to get my fingers in the soil. I'd even welcome pulling weeds right about now (somebody remind me of that in the middle of the summer!)
I'm jealous of Susanna's knitting ability. I've never been able to learn but would love to. And I adore quilting too, but haven't in a few years mostly due to time constraints.
I just added Murdock Mysteries to my Netflix queue - seasons 1-4 are available. Thanks for the recommendation!
Deleteyou're jealous of my knitting 'ability'?! I just finished lesson #2 LOL! well my grandma taught me the basic knitting stitch a long time ago but I never made more than an uneven pair of house slippers with pompoms and forgot how to purl right after those! also just unraveled the dishcloth for the 3rd time...sigh...

Susanna - This is me convincing you to try socks - DO IT! They're so much fun. I never thought "turning the heel" could feel so satisfying. (Once I learned how to do it right!)
ReplyDeleteI have three current favorite TV shows - and I love having a DVR because I can watch them when I want to and fast forward through the commercials. Number one is NCIS, of course. Number two is Castle. Number three is one we're watching on Netflix - it's a British mystery from the '90s called "Midsomer Murders". Fun stuff, usually. Weird most of the time.
Other ways to enjoy my free time:
Cross-stitch, knitting and sewing in the evenings while watching TV (so maybe a couple hours a week).
Hiking in the Hills when the weather is decent (nearly every Saturday from April through October!).
And reading whenever I get the chance (and sometimes when I steal the chance - does anyone else cook with a book in their hand?).
I used to garden a LOT before we moved - but I just haven't been able to bring myself to put in a garden here yet. I can't even get excited about it. My dear husband says I'm burned out from having to leave too many gardens behind. (I hate moving, in case you haven't figured that out yet!)
I got some dvds of a british mystery series - rosemary & thyme - I like them mainly because of the gardening - I'm much too lazy to garden like they do but they show the gardens and I lvoe seeing them finished!

How fun, ladies! I've been learning to knit (or, I should say re-learning) and am doing a simple scarf. I've started going to a new knitting group at our church. And also! My next book that just sold has a heroine who's re-learning to knit. :) hehe
ReplyDeleteAnd CASTLE!! Love this show. They're torturing us right now, though. Castle's back to the man we saw the first season--the cad. Although, we know he's hurting. ;)
I also DVR American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice (does anyone else love how they do the characterization in that show as much as I do?).
Also, speaking of reading... I grabbed a book on the way out the door today and started it while out. Another Sarah Dessen book, Just Listen. I love her! And this one is going to be so good! I had a hard time putting it down.
never heard of Sarah Dessen - will have to look her up!
DeleteI hate typing in all these words to make it post my replies!
ok vented now I'm ok I think..
Susanna
Susanna, she writes young adult novels.
DeleteI cook with a book in my hand! :) Laughing, Jan! And Susanna, send me some knitted dishcloths, honey. I love those things!
ReplyDeleteKav, I love quilting, but I stopped when I realized I'd rather write. There are only so many hours in a day, and the sewing got put on hold. But that's okay, I've had the pleasure of teaching a couple of my young friends how to sew, and they're loving it!
I DVR NCIS and Castle. And I found Frozen Planet... fascinating! Amazing! But for research I DVR things like "American Greed" on CNBC.... Or stories of real things that might feed my book characters' profiles that I can layer into a story.
And saw one a few weeks ago on hoarders... Oh my stars, I will be using that in a story at some point in time.
But the little bit of TV (besides Yankee Baseball, LOL!) that's on for grown-ups is geared toward Gibbs and Richard Castle. Although I haven't watched this week's so don't tell me!
Castle, Castle, Castle...
Doesn't he know that cops will say anything to lead a witness to that confession????
But it makes such a great story! Castle doesn't really mind if it's true or not :)
DeleteI haven't watched this week's either - it's waiting on the DVR.
LOL I've finished 3 washcloths so far..the dishcloth has taken FOREVER and still isn't done! I'll see what I can do though LOL! this is supposed to be an easy pattern and it looks like the one my aunt bought for me and my mom at a church bazaar several years ago! I loved that thing(well as much as you can love a dishcloth considering what they're used for..blech..)but they just don't live very long stuck in the bottom of a wet sink :-(

A friend starting talking about Castle the other day and I startled her when I said, "NO! Don't say anything. I haven't watched it yet!" LOL I finally finished it last night. They're going to torture us this season. :)
