Quick Snickerdoodle Cookies and a Giveaway!

Missy Tippens

Thanks for joining us for The 12 Days of Christmas Treats!!

The holidays are fun. They're exciting! But as we race through December, they can become stressful, can become a chore. Many of us have perfectionist tendencies (um...cough, cough), and we can get so caught up in the decorating and gift buying and party going that we lose the joy of the season. We forget that we don't have to create a perfect Christmas for our families. We just need to enjoy the time with our families. So if you're feeling overwhelmed by trying to make beautiful desserts worthy of being featured on a cooking show.... Stop it. And try this simple treat.

Snickerdoodle cookies. Made with a mix, of course. :)

All you need is a stick of butter, an egg, and some water. (I'm sorry for the sideways photo! No time to go edit it.)

The mix is simple.  Set aside the cinnamon sugar packet. Just melt the butter. Mix all the ingredients.

Then take a small amount of dough and form into balls. Roll each one in the cinnamon sugar mix. Then place on the baking sheet.

Then bake according to directions. They turned out really good! I wanted a lot of cookies so I made them really small. Everyone enjoyed them!

I'm giving away an e-book today! A copy of any one of my books, your choice, for Kindle or Nook. Please leave a comment to be entered!

    1. I love them too, Virginia. And the mix on hand is nice for simplicity. I know, y'all who bake all the time think I'm ridiculous! LOL (I see below that Ruthy is already laughing.) :)

    2. I was going to mention that mix because the snickerdoodle, sugar cookie and the gingerbread are probably the best cookie mixes I know. I've actually given them to people in cookie gift baskets!

    1. I knew you'd laugh at a mix, Ruthy! But I love to cut the bag and dump. No measuring. :)

  3. I still haven't made snickerdoodles and it's such a fun word to say. Wonder who thought it up and why? I guess if I want to continue being a card carrying cafe member I'd better whip up some snickerdoodles sometime soon.

No need to enter me in the draw -- I have all your books, Missy. Woot. And I don't read ebooks anyway. :-)

I, too, wonder about the crazy cookie name!

  4. Now I'm hungry for Snickerdoodles!

We're having a snow day here today. It's coming down hard and fast, and the temps are falling. Bitter, dangerous cold. It sounds like perfect day to snuggle in by the fire and enjoy some cookies and hot cocoa, doesn't it?

    3. We've got the same kind of day. We went out to sled in the foot of snow and the temps dropped to about 5F. It was so slick we almost didn't make it home. Stay warm!

    1. I think that mix is really good and I almost never use a mix. Nobody can tell it's not from scratch!

    2. Linda, that's cool that your mom taught you. My mom taught me to make sugar cookies that we would decorate at Christmas. :)

  7. I hear a snickerdoodle cookie calling my name. LOL These are one of my favorite--even with some peanut butter added on right before I eat one. I always make mine from scratch --just like all of mine. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas.

  8. I love snickerdoodles! My store had a display of Betty Crocker mixes and I went digging because of this post - but no snickerdoodles. :(

    1. I'm sorry you couldn't find it, Mary Cate. I hope you found some other flavor to buy though.

  9. I used these store bought mixes with my kids when they were young and wanted to bake "by themselves." The Snickerdoodles were a fave. Another was the oatmeal and we added Hershey's Cinnamon Chips to the mix instead of raisins. Personally, I still love these, but the cinnamon chips are extremely hard to find. When I do find some, I nearly buy out the stock and freeze them to have them on hand. And, Missy, author Lee Tobin McClain turned me on to your books when I read her keeper shelf list with your book, A House Full of Hope, on it. I hope we get to see more books from you soon.

    1. Terrill, I've seen those cinnamon chips, and you're right about them not always being at the store. Stocking up is a good idea! :)

Thank you for reading! Lee is a friend of mine. I appreciate her listing my book! :)
