As Ruthy would say...Oh my stars.
Have you ever drunk any of these?? I'm pretty sure I've had a Coolatta.
So, how do you cut down on the fat and calories of your favorite jazzed-up coffee/tea beverages?
I can honestly say I haven't had any of those loaded-calorie drinks 'cause I'm not a coffee drinker. Now, if you'd talked about white hot chocolate with whipped cream and grated chocolate on top -- I'd be in major denial right now. I mean, we all know chocolate is exempt from calories, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd I happen to be serving those in SEEKERVILLE right now, Kav!!!! ;)
Deleteme too! I can pass on coffee but hot chocolate? hoo boy!
Deletesusanna
kav, I'll have to go hit the site and look for hot chocolate drinks! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, goodie. I don't crave, nor have I ever had, any of those drinks.
ReplyDeleteI cut down the fat and calories by keeping them au naturel. I like my tea plain, but flavorful. Coffee isn't an issue. Lemonade? Thank You, Lord, for Chick fil A diet lemonade. YUM!
I almost hate that you're not even tempted....
DeleteBut you're too stinkin' cute.
Ditto what Ruthy said, Mindy! LOL
DeleteI have to say, though, that I've been sorely tempted by the new Zaxby's Brownie milkshake. Has anyone had one yet???
I LUV chick fil a diet lemonade! susanna
DeleteI'm with Kav - I like my tea plain (hot or iced), and my chocolate, well, chocolatey. I add at least an extra teaspoon of cocoa powder whenever I make hot chocolate. (but plain cocoa powder doesn't add calories or fat!).
ReplyDeleteIf I want to add more sweetener, though, my go-to non-calorie sweetener is Stevia. It's fantastic. No chemicals, so no chemical taste. All natural, and very sweet. To start out, you can use a Stevia blend like Truvia.
I haven't found a substitute for cream, though. Give me the real thing!
I must try Stevia.... On my list, Jan!
DeleteI've used Truvia for about a year and LOVE it!! I tried one of the other brands but didn't like it as well. This has worked great. I use it in my coffee every morning.
DeleteMissy, when I first saw stats like this last year, I gave up getting the high calorie drinks unless I'm traveling. Then it's my treat to myself.
ReplyDeleteThat's like a DAY'S worth of calories in a drink. With no value.
Sigh...
So I say no to them and milkshakes unless I'm hangin' with Seekers or Dave. And then I enjoy them, laugh about them, and behave when I get home again. It's my self-imposed reward system!
Ruthy, that's smart. Save them for special treats. I'm so glad that I inspire special treats when you're with me at conferences!! :)
DeleteJumping in late but as a Barista's mom I can tell you that one way to cut the calories is to ask for fewer pumps. Frankly, I find the drinks too sweet so I ask how many pumps of syrup (usually 4) and have them halve it or stick with just 1 pump. I generally skip the whipped cream but if I want it for flavor, I tell them just a drizzle. Starbucks typically uses 2% milk but you can ask for fat free.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Mary. It's easy to cut back. I get the skinny hazelnut lattes. That's non-fat milk and sugar-free syrup. The Frapuccinos used to be a mix. But I think now you can ask for FF milk or decaff coffee. Not sure about the sugar though.
ReplyDeleteHey Missy! I haven't got any of that drinks. Although I did have a Java Chip Frappe last time I visited Starbucks. But not taking chocolate drinks a day is a sad one. I love chocolate drinks more than coffee.
