My Bible study leader recommended these. Truly a Belle item to share! :)
Jeff Foxworthy's Grit Chips |
If you like grits, you'll love these! They're crunchy and a bit gritty (no pun intended). Just like I like. But for those who can't even find regular grits in your grocery store, I'm not sure you'll be able to find these either. Hopefully Jeff Foxworthy has gotten distribution in your area! :)
I also discovered these tortilla chips in the gourmet chip area. The area with the smaller, less well-known brands. And some are supposedly a little healthier.
These are seedy and crunchy and wonderful!
The Whole Earth Really Seedy Multigrain Tortilla Chips |
Now, I know I've shared this before. But since I'm still addicted to Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, I thought I'd share the new bowl, new flavor (Peachy Keen back in June) and new purple spoon!!
Menchie's--Missy's addiction |
I also wanted to share a gorgeous cake and table from a recent 50th wedding anniversary party we attended. Congratulations to the Whitleys!
By the way, those are real magnolias on the table. Not silk. It was a fun celebration of a wonderful couple!
So what fun foods have you discovered lately?
Okay, you've made me hungry and I just ate breakfast!!!! I miss frozen yoghurt! There used to be a YogenFruz close by but not anymore. :-( And I find the frozen yogurt you get in the grocery store just isn't the same. :-( :-(
ReplyDeleteKav, you're right. The soft yogurt coming out of the machines is so much better! And I love the places where you fill your own bowl, mixing all the flavors together if you want.
ReplyDeleteYou have brands I've never seen before!
ReplyDeleteThe grit chips, though? Kind of like corn chips, but more texture maybe? I doubt if they'll even try to market those in the north...
I've never tried one of those frozen yogurt places. We have several in town, but I have friends that own an ice cream shop. Their Italian ices are fabulous, so when I want a treat, I go there :)
Fun food discovery? My daughter's friend from Norway was visiting last week and the girls went shopping at a Scandinavian store. Mia bought my daughter a bunch of Norwegian snacks that the store carried - mmmmm!
My favorites are called Keks. They're wafer cookies covered in chocolate. Yes, kind of like Kit Kats, but the cookie is flatter and larger. And the chocolate is...well...European.
Which begs the question -- why is European chocolate so much better???? You've reminded me about my favourite chocolate bars from the UK. Fry's cream or mint or orange. Decadent dark chocolate with soft fondue flavoured filling. Sigh. Now I'll have to go hunt one down and they aren't easy to find these days. Oh -- and UK jellie tots. And flakes. And chocolate buttons....rats I knew I shouldn't have ducked back through the café doors.
DeleteEuropean bread, too!
DeleteDo they use different ingredients? Different temperatures? Different processing methods?
It isn't THAT different from the US and Canada over there, is it?
Oh, this was great! I love your Friday Favorites! Did I tell you that you converted me to that iced coffee in a carton? YUMMY.
ReplyDeleteThe grit chips made me laugh! I had a hard enough time finding real grits to make so my kids knew what they were.
I love peach anything and that froyo looks amazing.
And the magnolias and the cake!! I'm pinning that to my Southern Pinterest board. I have one called "What I love about the South". So beautiful!!
Love this post, Missy!
Thanks for the idea to Pin it! :)
DeleteTell your kids I'll have to ship them some chips. :)
I miss grits. I miss chips.
ReplyDeleteThe yogurt places are sprouting like weeds up here.
Can't wait to get down to GA and find some of my own Southern favorites!
Peace, Julie
I'm sorry you can't do corn. :( Can you have rice crackers/chips?
DeleteIsn't it funny how things go around? We had a ton of frozen yogurt spots up here... they all folded. Now they're springing up again, I'm sure because of the Greek Yogurt craze. And I love Greek yogurt, it's a treat by itself.
ReplyDeleteI'm an ice cream girl, though. Like Jan, if I'm treating myself I'm doing it with ice cream from Abbott's Frozen Custard up here. That's my reward for just about ANYTHING!!! :)
The cake: MISSY!!!! I did Beth's wedding cake like that, with the smooth icing and tiny dots, only her frosting was pink. I wanted a "Cinderella" cake because she was wearing a Cinderella type dress, so it worked beautifully. Love it and God bless the Whitleys! Now I'm thinking of Steel Magnolias while my buddy Kathryn is watching 1776 for the FIRST TIME EVER....
Clearly her parents have neglected her!!!
You know what else is resurging around here? Fitness centers. They were big... then waned... and now we've got a huge LA Fitness being built and another one... I forgot which franchise... but it's getting a big new building too.
Always an education in watching how things come and go! Missy, I loved this!
You're right, Ruthy. I remember when yogurt places were huge, and then they disappeared. I think the ones that let you serve yourself different flavors have helped resurrect them. I love to fill me a cup of several flavors and weighs about 5 pounds! LOL
DeleteI bet Beth's cake was gorgeous! Pink would be perfect.
