If I Owned a Restaurant...

I love steak. And one of my favorite things to do with leftover steak is this.
It's simple, just lettuce, sliced steak, sunflower seeds and blue cheese dressing. It's flavorful, blue cheese and steak are a match made in heaven. It's super quick and easy to prepare. And every time I take a bite, I think, "If I owned a restaurant, this would be on the menu."

On this day, I then asked myself, "If you owned a restaurant, what else would you have on the menu?"

Hmm...

Cupcakes. Definitely cupcakes.
Then I'd probably throw Chicken and Rice on the menu, just because this version is so different from what most expect.
So today, I thought we'd play a little game called If I Owned a Restaurant. And this is how it goes. If you owned a restaurant, what would be on your menu?

And...go!

  1. I love this game already!!!! First, Chicken and Artichoke French.... Love that stuff. And fish fry.... haddock, of course, totally a WNY tradition. And eclairs. I love eclairs. And pie. All kinds of pie. I can be in charge of the dessert case/rotating cooler. I would be so happy to do that!!!!

    1. Ruthy, I love those rotating dessert cases. They just make you want whatever is in there.

Haddock, huh? In Texas it's catfish. Like you said, a regional traditions.

Did you leave off a word on that first one? Chicken and Artichoke French...what?

  2. If I owned a restaurant....squeeeall...I could play this game all day. And I've actually given it some thought. I'd mix it up and make it a bookstore/restaurant. Simple cooking and decadent desserts and a book for everyone!

Or -- a chocolate everything restaurant! Or a hearty soup and sandwich restaurant that's only open mid-day (so I can still get all my reading in.) Or Let Them Eat Cake restaurant where you get to eat all the cake you want! Oh -- oh -- oh -- a forgotten dream of mine -- a doggy restaurant that serves entrees and treats for dogs. With cute little pooch size furniture and a sign on the door that says 'no cats allowed,'

    1. Kav, you have really put some thought into this. And I love all of your ideas. Don't you know that if we all put our heads/ideas together we could come up with one outstanding restaurant. Wonder what sort of special permits you'd have to have for the doggy restaurant? Love the Let Them Eat Cake idea, too.

  3. I'm smiling reading this, Mindy. I just finished watching a Hallmark movie about two chefs who get fired and open their own hugely successful restaurant!

  4. I'm a day late! My menu would have spaghetti, fettuccine Alfredo, roasted salmon, and white chicken chili. Those are all my family's favorites so would hopefully be a hit in a restaurant. :)

    1. Missy, for a second there I thought you were going for an Italian restaurant. My husband loves spaghetti, my youngest son loves fettuccine Alfredo and I love salmon, so we'd all be happy at your place.
