A Christmas Miracle!

Snow at the ranch!
I kid you not. Snow in South Central Texas.
It started Thursday night while myself and a bazillion other women were celebrating Ladies Night Out on the square.
I love it when God provides the ambiance.

At a little after midnight, the ground was covered with snow. And while my son woke us up to share in the spectacle, none of us got any pictures.
So you will have to settle for my morning after pix.
Best sunrise I've seen in a long time.
And though there may not be much on the ground, that's more than just a heavy frost.
That's wet, white snowflakes clinging to life on anything colder than 32 degrees.
Some of the cows were rather curious.
As was our Dixie dog.
But my magnolia trees held the proof.
Most every day, I ask God to show me His glory. And on this day, He showed me something I never expected to see south of Waco.
I know this may seem skimpy to my northern friends, but I am delighted to know that my God cared enough for me to bring snow to a place I thought I'd never see snow again. Okay, so a gal in my Sunday school class thinks He did it for her, but I know better.
This was just for me.
However, as I mentioned before, this is South Central Texas, so you know what that means.
SCHOOL WAS DELAYED TWO HOURS!!!!!

(Insert raucous laughter from anyone north of the Red River)

Now it's your turn.
Do you ever ask God to show you His glory?
It can come in any shape or form. We just have to be on the lookout.
How has God showed off for you?

    1. Jana, I love that picture you sent of your sweet house and the pup and the decorations... #keepingChristmassimple is my favorite thing!

    2. Jana, isn’t it fun to see what He will do? Of course, we have to be on the lookout. Something I fail to do at times.

  2. Nothing like a little snow sparkle to create a festive atmosphere! Glad you got to experience it at the ranch. You were having my weather and I was having yours. I actually gardened a couple of days ago. We're experiencing our first blizzard today though so Mother Nature is getting back on track.

I can't say that I've ever asked God to show me His glory but I do appreciate it all around me in many aspects of my life. One of the reasons I love walking so much -- His hand is evident everywhere even in the middle of a city. You just have to take the time to notice.

    1. I agree, Kavalicious! His hand is evident everywhere.

What a lovely way to put it!

    2. And I agree with the snow sparkle. Like I said, it’s ambiance. But as for God’s glory, it is there, if we take the time to look. Reminds me of the George Strait song I SAW GOD TODAY. Sometimes we plow through life. Then there are times when we take it slow. Slower is always better.

  3. I'm so far north of the Red River (border of Oklahoma and Texas) that I'm closer to the other Red River (border of North Dakota and Minnesota)! So yes, I'm smiling and saying quietly to myself, "Bless their hearts!"

And God shows His glory every day. Like Kav said, you just need to take the time to notice. You also need to be looking. Sometimes He reveals his glory in a gentle snowfall, and sometimes in a blizzard.

Today I was reading about God showing His glory during my morning devotions. The author mentioned the time when Moses asked God to show His glory in Exodus 33. He would have to be content with seeing God's indirect glory, just as we need to be content with the glimpses of His indirect glory that we experience.

All I can say is that if what we experience here and now is only a partial shadow, only a glimpse, what will heaven be like? *happy sigh*

    1. Jan, I never thought if it that way, but you are so right. His glory in earth is only a glimpse if what we’ll see in heaven. Wow!

  4. I love his glory, Mind-O!!! And a dusting or a deluge, that snow is just a fun thing to see, isn't it??? Sara Parker (Love Inspired suspense author) showed pics of her kids romping in the two inches they got IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

Yes, she got them up to see the snow and let them play!!!

I love that because just like "All Summer in a Day" (Ray Bradbury) what guarantees come with snow? Or sun? Or golden leaves???

Celebrate while ye may, while ye can, I say!

AND STARTING TOMORROW IT'S THE 12 Days of Hallmark Christmas...

Not that I really have time to watch movies... I don't. But if I did, I'd be binge-watching the Hallmark channel! And loving it!!

    1. Ruthy, there were so many people up late that night, playing in the snow. That’s probably the real reason for the 2-hour delay.
      Everyone was exhausted.

I’ve been watching Hallmark movies since Halloween. I guess now it’s bonus time. That is, unless you have one TV and a kid cramming for finals. Maybe this weekend.

  5. Insert me snickering in my cubie about the school delay! I am still waiting for our pretty snow. We have had snow, but not the pretty watch the dogs dance in the snow snow yet!

    1. Katie, we may never get that here, but having grown up in Michigan, I know exactly what you’re talking about.

  6. Mindy, we had the excitement around Atlanta, too! Very unusual in December for us.

It was beautiful and peaceful. God sure knows how to decorate!

    1. Missy, at least you can understand how glorious the rare snow event truly is. Doesn’t matter how much or how little, it’s still amazing.

  7. We had the snow too. It was heavy and wet, and pretty much gone by the next day. No delays here. But it was Saturday.

Ruthy, I saw Sara's post about that and it seemed like such a fun thing to do!

    1. Mary Cate, I guess you all have had an unusually warm fall, so the quick disapearance of the snow would make sense. The warm ground is why ours was gone by morning. Of course, I’m sure you’re ground is a lot cooler than ours. All I knew w is that I will cherish this event for some time to come.
