Grilled Potatoes

Do you ever see a recipe that looks so perfect that you can't imagine why you didn't think of it before?

That happened to me this weekend.

Now you may all have heard of this before, and I'll look like the only ignorant one, but here goes.

I happened to see a video on Facebook about roasting potatoes as if you were doing kabobs.

Brilliant, right?

I decided I had to try it.

I bought a couple of pounds of small potatoes (a mix of red and Yukon Gold).

I decided to parboil them and peel them because I wasn't sure how long it would take to cook them through.

So I boiled them and then let them cool.

I poured some olive oil over them and added lots of herbs and garlic, and left them to marinate a bit. I used basil, dried garlic, and oregano, but I was kicking myself for not thinking to add in rosemary. That would have been perfect.

After about 20 minutes, I skewered the potatoes. In the original video, she used bigger potatoes and sliced them in half. I used them whole since I had small ones.


I soaked the bamboo skewers in water before using so they wouldn't burn.




If you have an outdoor grill, these will be perfect to grill. I don't so I roasted them in the oven.

SOOOOOOOO  DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I don't even remember what I served with them. I only remember how delicious the potatoes were.

  1. I am in love with this.... seriously in love. I cannot and will not give up potatoes. I love them. I love to eat them. I love to enjoy them. And I will fight for my right to enjoy potatoes and embrace the Celt within! :) How wonderful is this????

    And we must enjoy them now because the temps are actually doing the quick winter/summer change from 47-50 degrees to 90's by Monday.... So we'll be turning the oven off for a while, won't we?

    2. I should have finished - that was part of what was so appealing (other than the taste) - no need to lose out on roasted potatoes just because it's hot!

  2. So...dumb question...how did you roast them in the oven? What temp? For how long? Did you have to turn the sticks?

    I love potatoes too and I do something like this...but not quite. LOL I drizzle olive oil in a baking dish and toss in chopped potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers and whatever else I have on hand. Then I use the same seasonings you did and put them in the oven at 350...and about ten minutes before they're done I toss in a chopped up tofu burger. Easy peasy one bowl meal. And the leftovers are even more flavoruful.

  3. Kav, I did the exact same thing. I probably had it up closer to 400, but that's because my oven thermometer is off.

    I usually do them as you do, loose in the pan, but skewering them is kind of fun and they aren't as oily.
