Missy's RWA Photos

Missy Tippens, here. I wanted to share my RWA photos in addition to Mindy's and Cate's. They're in no particular order since I loaded them from my phone. But I tried to stick to ones that involved food. :)

This was a photo posted on Seekerville. I think it's Tina Radcliffe's. I loved that she remembered the napkin!

Three of the Cafe ladies! Mindy (Left), Missy (center) and Mary/Cate (right).

Our table centerpieces at the Harlequin party were book-like lights. So beautiful!

The Cupcake table at the Harlequin party. Lots of toppings to add!

Another of the dessert tables, including the cute Harlequin mints. (As you can see, I took the photo later in the evening.)

A nice man at the ice cream station at the Harlequin party. I was fascinated by his ice cream and toppings. He was fascinated by my accent and asked where I was from! :)

A plate nearby. I didn't ask her permission to photograph it. I'm sneaky like that. :)

Now, backing up a few days to one of our dinners at Junior's, near the hotel. An egg salad BLT. Oh, my goodness, it was YUM! And something I'm going to make at home.
For those of you who haven't ever made egg salad:

Boil the eggs and then cool them in ice water. Peel, and chop (I use an egg slicer and slice the egg in it both directions). Then add a good amount of mayonnaise, a dash of yellow mustard, and salt and pepper to taste. I also sometimes add sweet pickle relish. For this sandwich, top a big scoop of egg salad with bacon, lettuce and tomatoes.

And on that note, I'll leave you with a growling stomach and your mouth watering. :)

  1. I love living vicariously through you guys!!!! I'm going to NYC over Labor Day, so I get to see Mary Cate then... and my boys! And the Yankees! Can't wait to be in the city that never sleeps. Love it!

Missy, I love the Harlequin party. What a fun gala. It makes me smile to think of it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing the pics. I shall content myself with zucchini bread, but I'll dream of fine pastries and pastry chefs!

    1. Hey, zucchini bread is one of my favorites! I'd probably choose it over most fine pastries. :)

You'll have a great trip!! Sounds so fun, especially with your boys who know the area so well. You won't be looking like a tourist like we did. :)

  2. Good morning, Missy.
Ah, what a night that was. I've never enjoyed a party more. Harlequin surely does know how to show their authors the love.

The best part was, with all the dancing, there were no calories to be gained. :)

My husband asked how it was a ball if there were no men. I guess his imagination couldn't quite encompass all those hundreds of woman dancing it up on the dance floor. And there a few men. ;)

    1. Mary, just take a video next time and share it with him. That always captures the feel of the party. :)

BTW, I fixed your photo! It was so large you were hanging off the page into the side bar. LOL

    2. Thanks, Missy. Cameras just really don't like me.

And I think perhaps I'll leave it to his imagination. :)

  3. Drooling. Can't believe all the details -- like the harlequin mints and the book lights. No holds barred! What fun!! I want the éclair. Badly. Just made banana bread with chocolate chips so that will have to suffice. Hoorah -- the heat wave finally broke. I could actually bake. Bracing for the next one, but enjoying the refreshing breeze coming in my window. Thanks for sharing your RWA experiences. Kind of a four day food blog. LOL

    1. Before I forget, I should say I don't know for sure those are mints! I didn't have one. They could be little cookies. But whatever they were, they were cute!

Kav, I'm glad your heat wave broke! It's been bad here, too. Already 87 degrees at 10:45 am.

    2. Tina told me they were hazelnut. Someone else said peanut butter. I tasted one and it was definitely some sort of nut creme inside. They were prettier to look at. :)

  4. So elegant! And it looks like it was so much fun :)

Your comment about the ice cream guy reminds me of our first trip to Florida - oh, about 50 years ago!. We were having breakfast in a little restaurant somewhere in Georgia - probably Atlanta, since I think we stayed there overnight - and my mom kept talking to our waitress, asking her questions about the food and the area, just to hear her accent. My brother and I were embarrassed, but she was enjoying herself so much. :)

    1. So fun, Jan! And the waitress was probably getting a kick out your mom's accent as well. :)

  5. I know, I'm late to the party again. Great pix, Missy. I was hoping you'd post the one of you, me and Mary/Cate. And wasn't Junior's awesome? I had breakfast and a late-night snack there. Reasonable and oh so yummy!
