Best Hamburgers!

The Best Hamburgers!
Missy Tippens

I'm sharing a quick, easy recipe that I've seen lately on a commercial for mayonnaise. I believe it was for Duke's Mayonnaise, which is what I use, so it caught my eye.
They show a person adding mayonnaise to ground beef to make moist burgers. Made sense to me! So I decided to give it a try.

First, I pulled out my go-to spices for burgers. Well, actually, the Steak 'N Chop is new (thanks, Ruthy!). The other two I've used several times.

Next, the main ingredient (well, besides the beef). :) We really like to use the mayo made with olive oil. And I've always used light mayonnaise. So this one is perfect for us.

I added the spices and a big blog of mayo--probably about 3 TBS (maybe more) in one pound of lean ground beef (I buy the 93% lean). Mix well, pat out burgers with a dip in the center, and place in a hot skillet or on the hot grill (my grill died, so I'm grill-less right now). I like ground beef well done, so mine are sometimes dry. But these weren't!

Serve on a nice soft bun with your desired toppings. I was already eating when I remembered to take a photo! They were really moist just like the commercial said. I loved it! I plan to add mayo from now on.

  2. Missy, this is such a great idea!!!! Like Missy grinding bacon and putting it into burgers, this is awesome! (Although think of the irony of us buying 90%+ lean ground beef and adding fat to make it moist. Only humans would do these things!!!!)

I love flavor in my burgers, and I love toppings and rolls..... Mmmm.... I could eat that burger right now but it's 5:00 AM and that would just be weird!

Thanks for staying up late to do this!

    1. That's true about the low fat beef! LOL But this way it's olive oil instead of animal fat. :) Now I'm ready to eat another one.

  3. Missy, you're saving my bacon here! Or burger... I'm cooking at a BBQ for 20 and I have burger anxiety. It's just not something we eat. My husband usually makes carne asada or something bit we've got gringos coming so burgers are on the menu. Mmmm.... can't wait to try these!

    1. I love our differences. Burgers are a staple here, or ground meat done for like anything. Now I'm feeling my carnivorous Irish roots coming to the fore!

Gringos, LOL! I have to say, when Dave and I visited Cle Elum, the folks there were so nice, so sweet, and the little bakery we were checking out had an outhouse/port-a-potty... and two thirty-ish pregnant ladies were using it when we pulled in... And you know, it was fine! I loved being out west, the PNW is gorgeous, but it is different. You've got pure Westies/cowboy types that love their meat and a whole lot of veggie eaters who seem to favor fish and twigs.

Either way, it was great eating and great visiting!

  5. I've put leftover pico de gallo in lean ground beef - was good! a friend used generic rotel since it was cheaper and said they were good. adds some moisture to the lean stuff.

    I'm hungry now..
