Prepare Your Sweet Tooth!

Missy, here. I'm excited to share two new recipes with you today. Two items that I ate at church on Wednesday night. For those of you watching your carbs, I'm going to share photos I took on Wednesday that will torture you. So wait for your mouth to water and your sweet tooth to go wild!

First, my friend Kelly is serving, although she dodged my photo. But you can still see a partial view of the spread.

I immediately zoomed in on the one labeled Snickers Rice Krispie Squares! Oh my goodness. It was a layer of crispy cereal mixed with caramel and chopped Snickers bars. Then topped with chocolate and peanuts. The recipe for this (Thank you, Val!) came from ComfortableFood.com. Click here for the recipe.

Aha! I caught Kelly this time. No time to dodge the camera. Yes, she's about to hand me my plate!

Below is a closeup of my daughter's dessert. They called it Chocolate Lasagna. The recipe Val used came from OMGChocolateDesserts.com (click here for the recipe). The layers involve Oreos, whipped cream, cream cheese, chocolate and on top… crumbled peanut butter cups (she apparently used Reece's Cups instead of chocolate chips). And the lasagna is frozen. Oh my!

So now, just feast your eyes! And wipe the drool off your chin. And rest in the fact I only ate one of these, not both. Aren't you proud? :)

So, what's the most decadent dessert you've had lately??

Oh! And my book is available now at the Harlequin website!! If you're interested in reading an excerpt, click here!

  2. Wow! And what's weird is I'm a chocolate lover but was hoping for the strawberry recipe! Not sure I'd have made it! I've only had 2 desserts the last week or two thanks to this liver bizness and not wanting to start a binge..both on Sunday. The peach cobbler at Avalon diner was worth it..the cookie at church not so much. I think I need to stick with homemade for my dessert splurges and nothing in a package

    1. You're doing great, Susanna!! Just remember a mantra I tell myself from time to time: Nothing tastes as good as thin/healthy feels.

Sounds like you're doing great at making choices. And next time at church, you'll probably avoid that cookie. :)

    2. Yep store made cookie wasn't worth it. Don't know what this specialist will say Monday or if I'll be going through tests but I have to admit I do feel better already. Susanna

  3. Susanna! Way to go. I remember a quote from a pastor. THE FLESH IS NEVER SATISFIED. So no matter how many ice cream bars (Skinny Cow Salted Caramel Ice Cream Bars) I eat, I am never satisfied. So why start?

  4. I've been avoiding sugary desserts lately, so these pictures are a feast for the eyes! That chocolate lasagna looks divine :)

But when we travel I have a hard time staying away from pie. Especially at my favorite restaurant - Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury, Indiana. Pie to die for! We bought a fresh peach pie (whole) to take and share with relatives, and I made sure I had at least one piece.

    Oh. My.

It was SO delicious, it was a good thing we were sharing with plenty of people! I would have been tempted to eat the entire pie :)

On the other hand, I do eat my share of Trim Healthy Mama desserts and snacks, using stevia or Truvia as the sweetener. My favorite is the yogurt raspberry swirl I shared here at the cafe a few weeks ago. No sugar. That will make even Susanna's doctor happy!

  6. Heehee -- guess who is reading The Guy Next Door right now? I'm on page 32, so I just started. I adore friendship turning to romance stories...they are so romantical!!!! :-)

Honestly, I'm a chocolate fiend but that lasagna almost makes me queasy. I'm expecting it would be tooooo rich for my plain palate. However I don't feel that way about the snickers/rice krispie squares so maybe my tastebuds are wonky. I'm going to make those for a Thanksgiving or Christmas do -- fun way of jazzing up rice krispie squares...oh, I know I'll make them for a first school PD day lunch. Won't I be popular?

    1. Kav, thank you for buying it! :) Gosh, now I'm nervous! I hope you like it. I've had two men write to me telling me they really enjoyed it but they wanted to smack Luke, the hero. LOL

    2. You know, some desserts have too much chocolate for me, too. But this one looked more whipped cream heavy.

And yes, I LOVE Rice Krispy squares! Also love Snickers. So that's why the Snickers one caught my eye. :)
