The Fresh Pioneer Takes Over Your Weekend. (Do not fear...)

Hello, everybody! The Fresh Pioneer is back and I'm PRETTY sure I'm supposed to be here today. If not... Enjoy the double post, hahaha!

Seriously, I'm taking over the weekends so now you'll get two full days of The Fresh Pioneer! (No gifts, thank you. If you feel moved, make a donation to your local charity. You're welcome.)
This means there will be more of this.
And tarte tatin  like this!
And fresh mulberry sorbet like this
(This post was July 2012. I can't believe I've been at the cafe almost two years!)
And Italian secret recipe biscotti like this!
But there will also be more of:
Farm fresh blueberries, and all the ways to eat them.
Crazy food like cactus
Picked from the side of the road blackberries and all the best recipes.
Fresh picked raspberries and simple recipes to highlight them.
Ok, there may not be a lot of salsa recipes
But I may do another round of ratatouille
And there will certainly be more...
Banana phone!
"waddya lookin' at" teens!
Waiting for the cinnamon rolls boys!
And crazy writer on a deadline posts.
So, as we go forward, I'm stocking up on posts. I have ready (tried and tested and maybe approved) for the next few weeks:
LILAC JELLY (Here's Edna, posing with our bounty, before we cooked it.)
(stockimages.com free use)
HOMEMADE PESTO (it wasn't that hard!)
(Doesn't this look delish?  Photo credit and recipe is from one of my favorite blogs: Yes They Are All Ours)
And fool-proof (oh yeah) sweet tea syrup that will fool all your friends and neighbors into thinking you are Southern! It's a secret recipe and I had to pry it out of my friend, so you KNOW it has to be good. (Secret recipes always are!)
So, stay tuned my friends! We're going to have a wonderful time together during the weekends!

  5. Dying laughing!!!!! We're a smooth crew!

Hey, Virginia, baby, did you know that you can make Impossible Pie Quiche???? Just like your coconut version, but a dinner or breakfast quiche.

Here's one five-star link, but these were another thing I made at Tupperware parties back in the day! http://www.food.com/recipe/impossible-quiche-64189

I love those pics. You look so wretchedly perfect, I'm a little bummed by my ongoing ineptitude, but that's okay, every blog needs a bumbling fool!!!!

    I'll shoulder that!

I'm going to watch my little buddy Casey (14 years old) in a dance competition today in Buffalo. She took four platinums last weekend, and I'm so excited to go see her on stage! DELIGHTED!

And a smart woman would have taken something out for supper, or started a Crock-pot, but I'm not that smart. I'll just whine later!!!! :)

    1. Oh, that looks yummy!! But isn't the crust one of the best parts? I suppose if you're short on time, which I always am, it's a good idea.
Lots of luck to Casey from all her friends in Oregon!

    2. Ruthy I bet you could sell anything cooking related! have fun at the dance thingy - I liked reading about the irish dancing in one of your love inspired books - think it was the one with the nutty hero wanting his daughters to be tomboy because their mom had been a tomboy - sigh the way men think or don't think sometimes! needless to say he wasn't my fave hero - that belongs to Matt :-) and that military guy in the Thanksgiving book with the woman with her 2 nephews wanting chicken nuggets...I'd take him too!

had organic co-op today - we're trying something different - even the halfshares are har to use up before they go south so a friend offered to pick up and deliver - well 2 of us went with her and one who went oday may have to do next week since I'm working and anna's got something on the other side of town to do - but we figured with 6 of us or more we can pool the stuff together and divvy it up - think we were pretty fair. one didn't want any fruit since she's low carbing and I'm good with fruit along with anna. I hate wasting greens and beets so I took one small beet to try and a few leaves of the green stuff to try (some none of us could figure out what it was...) our goal was to get stuff we'd eat and stuff to try and did our best with the other 3 people's boxes - looks kinda weird separating celery but we had 2 bunches so some of us got individual stalks and I was happy with that - have a tuna pasta salad I want to make this week and 1-2 stalks is plenty for that! we also had a lot of beets and kale...pretty good haul overall and we didn't buy extra stuff- one fruit share and 1 1/2 regular shares that were mostly veggies with a little bit of fruit. think my part came out to $35 - buying on my own would have been $50 each for a half share and a fruit share -would've gotten more but not been able to finish most likely. as it is I have a cantaloupe pineapple, about 6-8 oranges, 6 or so apples, 3 carrots, pile of assorted green stuff, a beet, avocado, eggplant. if anna hadn't been in a hurry I could have lingered thre for hours just looking LOL! practically dragged me out since she had to drop both of us off and sort and then pick up her nephews.

    1. That is so weird! It works for me but I'm on my phone. It has two posts in s row. This and the linked one.
Who knows what happened. I gave to upload through Mozilla now and grab the links through IE. Otherwise I can't even get in to Blogger.
I think they're trying to keep me out of the cafe but I will find a way!!

  7. Well that made me ravenous. I need breakfast -- pancakes and strawberries. I'm treating myself. And doesn't Edna look demure in that picture? She's such a classy lady.

    1. I know!! I need raspberries and blueberries and cobbler and a waffle or two.
Yes, sweet Edna and I had fun playing silent movie silver screen siren. She was Persephone in a Greek tragedy and I think her costume was genius.

    1. It was very easy! I had to endure the incredulity of my children, though. Hubby is used to eating all sorts of vegetation so he wasn't concerned I'd lost my mind.

    1. Excellent idea! I gave The Jane Austen cookbook (and gave one away on my blog) but it seems 80% of the recipes are alcoholic.

    1. She has quite the eagle eye and just now pointed out a speck of vegetation in one of the jars. It doesn't bother me but she says clarity is everything in jelly and we must not give away jelly that reminds one of insects suspended in amber.
