Zumba and Ice Cream

Missy, here. I wanted to show you something I just discovered that is AMAZING.

It has the richest, creamy chocolate flavor. I was so surprised! I saw the "Carb Smart" and thought it would be a poor imitation of ice cream.

I was wrong!

It's not too bad on the nutrient panel either.

Today is an odd post. I don't have a recipe to share. Just the new discovery for a way to eat chocolate ice cream. :) And also wanted to share that since Mindy inspired many of us with this post (click here), I've started going to Zumba classes again.

A friend from my church and ladies Bible study group has just been certified and is teaching us at her home.

I wanted to share her gorgeous back yard! It's amazing. I could go and just spend all day there. So, for your enjoyment... a walk through her garden...

My friend is whipping us all into shape! I'm slowly but surely building up stamina with the dancing. And having so much fun doing it! (I'm also thankful there are NO mirrors.) :)

Have any of you tried Zumba? Anyone else been working to get healthier since Mindy's post?

  1. I want that house!! Garden too!! Haven't been working on getting in shape but at least been thinking about it! Been sick so that's my latest excuse. Only tried Zumba at gym a few times and wasn't wild about it too loud. And too much work LOL! Tried it in my wii a few times and liked it better but didn't have enough space

    1. Susanna, it is a lot of work. LOL But fun work if you like dancing. We have a blast. She has a huge family room they added on to the house, and she rolls back the area rug so we workout on hard wood floors. Very nice space for it.

      I hope you're well soon!

  2. I love English Country gardens!!!! Oh, Missy, how lovely! ♥♥♥♥♥ !!!!

Ice cream and carbs... Did you know that a normal Ice cream bar (vanilla ice cream dipped in dark chocolate???) has 12 carbs?

That's my go-to ice cream treat when I need ice cream. I can't cheat on the amount of serving, it's pre-wrapped, and they put the store brand on sale all the time so it's crazy affordable... and the kids LOVE them. So does Dave. And 12 carbs doesn't tip me off my low-carb platform.

Real cream is naturally sweet but not high carb, it's high-fat. So if you're calorie counting, that's bad... but if you've kind of kicked white bread and rolls and popcorn and chips to the curb... and keep the carb count low per day.... then the high fat won't matter.

It's such a big turnaround on what we traditionally thought of as "dieting" but what a better way of doing all this, just kind of life-style changing and not starving ourselves. Love it!

I wish I had time to garden like that. Gardening is such good therapy. Plants do not talk back. :)

    1. Ruthy, I love the idea of a bar so it's "pre-measured"! Because you know how IMPOSSIBLE it is to scoop out a half cup serving of ice cream. :) 12 carbs is great.

  3. Sob. I still have snow in my front garden -- not a lot but it's still there taunting me. "Na na na boo boo, I'm not going away until your night time temps reach above 0" Gah!!!!! It's been a very slow spring....just noticed buds on a few trees yesterday. That's like a month behind schedule! Grrr.

I'll have to check for that carb smart ice cream. We carry Breyer's brand up here so the chances are good.

Heard a very discouraging report on sugar. On average we're consuming 22 teaspoons a day and they want us to cut that back to 6! That includes natural occurring sugars like in milk, fruit, juice. The report pointed at sugar consumption being the major culprit for weight gain.

I've been yorkie sitting for over a week. Bear goes home today. :-( But while he's been here I've been walking him three times a day. I can manage 30 minutes without sending my feet into a nerve frenzy so that means I've walked an hour and a half every day for about 10 days now. Very excited about that. Mind you, I've been off work too so I'm not sure I'd manage to do that on work days. I need me a dog. :-)

    1. Wow, Kav. 6 tsp?? Sounds almost impossible. I guess you get that much just in fruit and milk.

I'm sorry Bear is going home. :( Yes, you need you a little doggie to walk and love on!

sorry it's still cold there- Wed it hit 80 here and I was wishing for the cold again - dreading summer when it gets in the 100s...sigh..

    3. LOL, Susanna. My husband teases me about my narrow range of temperature tolerance. I'm happy from like 75 to 85 degrees. :)

    4. I like 55-75 with occasional dips to the 30s and occasional spikes to the 90s but very very few that high..so summer is miserable for me

  4. We're waiting for the flowers up here, too! But I would never have a garden as beautiful as your friend's! I came close in the last two houses, though.

I've been lengthening my walks since the weather is warmer. During the dead of winter, it's a quick run around the block (especially if the wind is blowing!). But this time of year it's at least 30 minutes, up and down hills.

And part of Trim Healthy Mama is cutting out sugar. Fruit juices, candy, added sugar in anything.... But the things we eat instead make up for it.

I love using Truvia as a sweetener. My "ice cream" treat is frozen berries mixed with cream, with a bit of Truvia for sweetener as needed. The berries freeze the cream as you mix it up - sweet, easy, cool and delicious!

    1. I need to try that, Jan! And I could add cocoa to raspberries to get chocolate when I'm dying for it.

You know, I've really enjoyed my friend's garden. The extent of my garden is two pots of flowers on the porch (yet to be planted this year) and the azaleas around the front yard.

  5. That ice cream is dangerous.

Working in that garden would whip anyone into shape. Sheesh.

  6. You should see what great shape my friend is in! Puts me to shame.

  7. What a gorgeous house and garden! My gardens wouldn't look like that even in peak summer season. Right now leaves are beginning to unfurl and early perennials are just peeking out of the soil. ::sigh::

I haven't seen that particular kind of Breyers here altho' we have the brand. Our "find" was Chapman's frozen yogurt in cappuccino almond. SOooo good! I'm anything but physically fit but we do eat a pretty healthy diet. My hubby's open heart surgery 18 years ago makes us very conscious of it. He also walks our Lab 3 km faithfully every morning. My arthritis doesn't let me join in, but I do the gardening. Or I will, when things get growing around here.
