It's Pumpkin Time!

Missy, here. Though it's still in the 70's around here, it's fall at the grocery store. And I just love when we can find pumpkin items and all kinds of limited editions products.

First, I've really been enjoying the Pumpkin Spice Latte at McDonald's (Micky D's is a lot closer to me than Starbucks--which has one I love as well). What a treat!

Oh! Sorry if this freaks anyone out. But I just saw a photo on my phone that reminded me to ask. Have y'all been over-run with spiders this fall? Oh my goodness, we have. I don't know what kind they are, but they spin a decent web. They look different from what we've had before that I called writing spiders.

I almost walked through this the other night to take out the dog...

Okay, sorry for the scary Halloween detour. :)

NOW, back to pumpkin items. :)

The one I've been most excited about is Thomas Pumpkin Spice bagels!

Notice that "Limited Edition." Well, last week, they were already gone! (sob) I should have bought the whole supply and frozen them. Now I know. Next year, I'll have a plan!

Toast them. And YUM. Look at the bits of pumpkin inside! My mouth is watering just remembering.

What goes perfectly with pumpkin? Why, plain cream cheese of course! The perfect fall breakfast.

And speaking of pumpkins (without the cream cheese), the youth group at our church sells pumpkins every year to make money for the mission trip and other activities. We bring in a huge semi truckload from New Mexico. The parents, kids and others in the church work every day during the month of October, selling them to the community. It's a lot of fun! Here's one small section from this year.

Oh, and one more favorite in the fall. Pumpkin bread or muffins (and yes, I usually use a mix). :) (Disclaimer--this is a photo from last year. We haven't made them yet this year.) Of course, my daughter had to add chocolate chips to a few of these. I'll heavily discourage that this year! Don't want chocolate in my pumpkin muffins!

So have y'all been partaking of seasonal items in the stores and restaurants?

  1. someone beat you to buying them all and freezing :-( back when I bothered with weight watchers they'd have a thing at the end where you mentioned great products(like the low carb high fiber bagels at HEB) and I'd just mutter 'well we can kiss off going there!) and sure enough - they were always sold out then they'd raise the price! :-(
wonder if you can email the company ond order a case?! some companies sell online but don't know about thomas. I think the chocolate would be good in the muffins! might have to buy 2 boxes so she can make the good ones! ;-)

  3. Yes! And I love McDee's latte, it is much better than Starbucks (and cheaper too)! I have had my Pumpkin Spice Krispy Kreme doughnut (better than Dunkin's) and Pumpkin waffles. I need some Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream. And fudge. Love the fudge.

I'm Team Missy on the chocolate in the pumpkin muffins. Just, um, no.

    1. LOL, Piper. I'm glad you're on my team. :)

I love Krispy Kreme! I didn't know they had a pumpkin spice. Oh, wow. Will hit there soon!

  4. My family is about to rebel because I haven't made pumpkin pie yet this year! But I have an excuse - we've been swimming in apples. But we got the last of those made into applesauce last weekend, so I think it's time for pie :)

And I'm with you and Piper on the chocolate in the muffins. No. Some things should be kept separate.

  5. Ever taste Dryer Limited Edition Pumpkin ice cream? I highly recommend you NEVER bring it into your house. Or the Egg Nog.

  6. Rushing right out to see if I can find some of those pumpkin bagels and will probably drop by McD's to check out the latte! You've created a pumpkin craving in me that MUST be satisfied, Missy! :)

  7. No luck finding the bagels, but did pick up a pumpkin quick bread mix - and a cranberry/orange quick bread mix & some cream cheese. Had the latte and then gave into an ice cream cone...I'm blaming Missy for ALL of this!

    1. Julie, when my kids were babies and ate baby food, they loved the sweet potatoes and squash. They would turn orangish! So I believe you!

  9. Ewwwww...you have ickier spiders down south! I guess that's one of the good things about freezing cold temperatures. Shudder.

Up here we have a donut chain called Tim Hortons and they have the most amazing pumpkin glazed donuts in October...but only for a month or so. Sob. Reminds me I have to get some before they disappear.

  10. I'm with you, Missy. I love just about anything pumpkin. Except the latte. No coffee anything for me. Bleck.

No influx of spiders here in Texas, thank God. However, those you showed kind of look like banana spiders. Maybe not, though. That first one looks a little on the furry side. Banana spiders are huge and make a huge web, but they're harmless. At least that's what my husband says. I say, it's a spider. Kill it!
