Pasta Express

Every once in a while, a product comes along that makes life easier. Occasionally easy means sacrificing taste. But not this time.

Thanks to the folks at Kraft for creating the deliciously wonderful Philadelphia Cooking Cream. It comes in lots of varieties, though for this venture, I chose the Italian Cheese & Herb (think a creamy pesto sauce).

This is one of those things where there isn't really recipe. You can use whatever pasta you like and whatever you might have in the fridge.

While my penne pasta was boiling, I sauteed some onion and garlic.

Then I added some spinach and sliced mushrooms.

Once the spinach started to wilt, I added some sliced sweet Italian sausage that was already cooked.

Finally I added my pasta...

Gave that a stir and then added the sauce.

Stir to coat and serve.

This was a two-thumbs-up from me. Even though it does look a bit washed-out here.

Your family will think you spent all day cooking. Yep, I can see that cooking cream becoming a staple in my refrigerator. And with so many choices--Italian Herb, Savory Garlic, Savory Lemon and Herb, Creamy Pesto, Original, and Sante Fe Blend--the creations are limitless.

Bon appetit!

  2. Mindy, how stinkin' quick and easy is this!!! Missy has used this before (I think, my brain is slightly underwired these days) and the creamy consistency is AAA marvelous!!! Oh my stars, I'm adding a few of these to our grocery lists, not for ME.... but Dave could manage this and feel so stinkin' happy about taking care of his wife!!!! (In truth, he doesn't appear to lose a lot of sleep about NOT TAKING CARE OF HIS WIFE, but we'll be working on that until we're buried, most likely)

And hats off to Mindy who his handling the entire CAROL contest on her own as coordinator.... Wowza. We're praying for you this last week of entries, chickie, oh and wait, a wedding coming up... oh and wait, a second novel to write.... oh and a ranch... and family..... Here's a hug, Mindy-meister!

    1. Ruthy, who knows what wonders Dave might whip up with this stuff.

Not only the Carols, I'm in and out of town thanks to spring break/wedding planning. Why do I thrive on chaos?

  3. Mindy, with all that on your plate, no wonder you have this stuff as a staple in your fridge!

And, oh my, this easy dish is one I could love! Spinach? Pasta? Sweet Italian sausage? Creamy sauce?

But then there are all the possibilities - you can just start with the sauce and pasta...add chicken and roasted red peppers. Or that Italian sausage and sun dried tomatoes. Or onions, garlic and broccoli.

And all in about 10 minutes. Sweet.

    1. That's right, Jan. Whatever's in the fridge could be fair game. Might be a great tool for disguising leftovers.

    1. Yay! I've finally shared something that you can enjoy, Kav. Sans the sausage, of course :-)

  5. I love that cream cheese stuff, Mindy! That's the flavor I've used, too. Very easy and delicious! I love your idea of doing already cooked sausage and adding spinach!
