Quick and Yummy Scones!

Tex here, with my head down in revisions. But I wanted to share one of my latest finds.

I love scones. So when I was at World Market not long ago, I picked up this mix from Sticky Fingers Bakeries. They had lots of varieties, but I settled on the cranberry for this taste test.
The package says "Just Add Water, Mix & Bake." My expectations were fairly low. I mean, could they really be as good as homemade, or those wonderful ones at Starbucks?

So, I dumped the mix in a bowl, added some water, mixed it up, dropped them by tablespoons on my baking sheet and voila!

They had nice chunks of cranberry, the texture was perfect, and they were really good. I mean REALLY good. The I-can't-believe-I-ate-the-whole-thing kind of good. And that's a shame. Why? Because now they're gone.

  1. This is a perfect "I'm at work" post, Tex! :) And these look delicious. I've found that some of these darling (and yes, pricey) mixes are amazing.

Thank you for sharing this! I'll make a spot o' tea for us, and we can discuss the foibles of the Crawley family at great length,.

    :)

My heart aches for dear Branson.

    3. Okay, I'm clueless. Are y'all talking about the Downtown Abbey show?

    4. Yes, of course. Are there any other Crawley families?

  2. I'm with you, Mindy, both on loving scones and being neck deep in revisions - although my revisions are self-imposed so I can get this manuscript sent off.

These look easy and fun...and I think I'm going to be looking for them at the grocery store tonight...

  3. They sure look good!! I'm not a huge fan of scones, but I may try these. Maybe with a mix I won't ruin them. :)

    1. Not a fan of scones? The horror....

Missy, I love scones with clotted cream. Don't have any of that around the house though. That's just way to dangerous.

    2. I like them with cream cheese...and chocolate chips. Now I'm hungry.

  4. I love scones!!! But you said clotted cream and I think grievous wounds. Ick.

My sister makes the most AMAZING scones. I've made them... when she's at my elbow giving directions. I've tried them alone an the result was not the same.
