Simply Saturday Crock Pot Meatballs!

Did I forget it was Saturday again?

I should be tarred and feathered.

That would hurt. I checked on Google for pics, and eeeeuuuuuwwwww...

I am not posting those pics here. Really??? People did that?????

OUCH.

Okay, so what can we do for Simply Saturday?  Something simple, right?

Napping is boring but grievously underrated.

But, simple!

Hey, have we done the Meatballs yet? The buffet line ones that are amazing and easy? Must check.... (Ruthy bustles away, apron flapping, wondering why she didn't do this last night. She's such a dork...)

No! I don't see it unless I forgot to label it and if I did it's worth doing again because they're beyond yummy and it's as simple as opening four cans.

Now that's easy-peasy!

One large bag smallish meatballs (I get mine from Sam's Club and you can use the smaller grocery store bag but we only make these when there's a crowd coming.)

2 cans Hormel chili, no beans

2 cans Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce (the kind that slurps out in the shape of a can....)

Open cans.

hahahahahahaha!

Pour into large slow-cooker. Stir. Add meatballs. (I thaw them so they heat faster because I'm always a little behind... like that's a surprise, right? But if they're frozen they're fine, just heat them a little longer.)

Heat on high for two hours (or five if you forget to turn them down, oops!) and then turn down to low and serve throughout the day.

Really, truly delicious sweet/savory sauce and everyone will ask you for your secret recipe. And you don't have to tell them, you can just Cheshire Cat smile and shrug like you're that cool.

Because clearly, you are.

We served these at a wedding reception (picnic style reception) last week and no one died.

Now, there's a ringing endorsement!  :)

  1. are the meatballs frozen? Not sure if we have them here any other way except in the form of fresh meet.

    1. Jenny, these are sold frozen here. You could always use fresh ones... Or make them, right? But these are so easy and they keep in the freezer for months. Perfect for quick fix meals.

  2. It's always good when no one dies from a recipe. That's the strongest sort of endorsement, isn't it? I must remember that next time I mess one up so I don't feel so bad! Have a great Saturday, Ruthy! I'm going to celebrate the break in humidity by making corn chowder again. It's been waaaayyyyy to long. Corn chowder is to me what meatballs are to you. :-)

    1. I love corn chowder. Oy, I haven't had it in forever... Must make it soon. And potato chowder. I can wolf down a mega-amount of chowder, with or without meat/seafood, just because I love the consistency, the taste, that melding of flavors.

      Now I'm hungry.

      Kav... send me some, 'kay???

  3. Ruthy, this is such a surprising recipe!! I can hardly imagine it. But I bet it is really yummy! And like you said, so simple. I've had something that I bet is similar. Seems to me like that had something strange in it like grape jelly?? And maybe barbecue sauce? I'll have to do some digging and find out.

Can't wait to do this next time the kids have friends over or have a b-day party! Or when I need a dish to take to the church. Thank you for simplifying my life! :)

  4. Kav, I'm afraid I can't think of corn chowder until about October when the weather cools off. :) For the next three months, I'll just have boiled or grilled corn on the cob, dripping in butter and salt. YUM!

  7. This sounds like the perfect thing to have on hand to put together when you need something last minute! There's nothing like being prepared, is there?

And I love crock pot dishes. Stick it in early, before the day starts, and enjoy a leisurely meal at supper time. What can be better?

    1. Exactly! And I've prewarmed stuff when I need it quicker. The meatballs in the oven and the sauce in the microwave. Then you've got it ready in like 15 minutes and leave it in the pot on low to serve.

  8. great now i"m hungry! I did a zumba class today - first time and also first time I've been to the gym since joining, um, 8 months ago? kept thinking I'd try a class and finally did. I was wiped out in 10 min and had to modify the footwork a lot but hey I made it and had fun!

saw july's harlequin/love inspired books at wally world but not the large print - pre-ordered the kindle editions so I can make the print bigger - dont' understand why wally world can sell them early but not amazon. :-( I could use my nook and order from harlequin but I hate going through their downloading and my nooks isn't charged.

I"d have never come up with this recipe in a billion years! chili and cranberry sauce?! and meatballs?! I'll take your word for it - I'd like some chili dogs right now...

    2. yep - I saw Cheryl's then yours then a Blaze author I like - but I like larger print or ebook so I can make it larger print. trying to make myself get ebooks so not so many books to have to shelve...I pre-ordered all 3 from amazon so just have to wait for July 1! I don't get on seekerville much so I don't keep up when a book's due out unless I just happen to wonder if another is out!
